A woman came to my house a couple of years ago and I invited her inside but she wouldn't come in, even though my sister was visiting at the time. So, I talked to her on my front porch. I questioned her on some things like disfellowshipping and changing bible texts. She admitted she had been disfellowshipped herself. She pooh-poohed bible changes, and said they just took out the "thee, and thous" in order to make it more readable. When I challenged that she got very defensive and walked away, saying she could bring her husband back and he would explain things for me since he knew more. I haven't had a return visit since. I've never been a JW.

Recently I had an offer from an old friend to discuss some of the questions I posed him. Stuff I learned here. I declined because I knew neither of us would give way.

I would argue with them from the Bible making sure that they are talking with someone that knows the subject, because they hope to find people that don't have a clue so they can manipulate them with their propaganda.

Once they realise that they can't win they will not come back.

I doubt any would call, as we are on a list not to be called on, but if they accidentally knocked, I would question them about the UN, child abuse policies and shunning.

Finally-Free

I was a JW for 20 years and I can count on one hand the number of JWs I had any use for. I dislike the vast majority of them, so I feel no desire to help them out of their stupid cult. I would probably just say that I don't talk to members of apostate, satanic cults and shut the door.

I have engaged several of them in conversation - mostly about JW history, because I think it is pretty damning. Also about disfellowshipping and how unloving it is.

I have discovered:

#1 The average JW doesn't know very much about the history of the cult they allow to run their lives.

#2 The average JW will lie about #1 when backed into a corner.
