If it was proven that Jesus, in fact, has a bloodline. What do you think this will do to religions? And is it at all possible to prove that Mary Magdalene and Jesus had an intimate relationship? God bless Eli

I just got back from the Davinci Code. I loved it! I think it is actually a none issue. I think that Jesus was a grouping of several legends of the Christ in that time frame and with all the BS that took place in history to get to the Christian religion we know today, and the Bible we call the "word of god." I would not be surprised to see several cover-ups that disprove the Christian organized faith. Although, I am always reminded of the fact that the Bible does not mention any importance in a grail. Anyway, the movie was wonderful and I loved the fact that it showed that the Goddess influence is throughout Christianity. I do not need another religion to get to the source, I go right to the source itself, these days. Although, to label Goddess as something to be worshipped is interesting. In that modern Pagans do not really see Goddess the way a Christian sees God. Goddess is life and the woman is the gateway to life from one world to the next and to see Mary Magdalene as a grail of continuation of the faith, is just another extension of that. I will say, I did like the book better, but that is normal. Hard to make a perfect movie, when a popular book is involved. Mankind has forever dowplayed the woman's role, but we would not exist as a society without the woman. Goddess is not about raising one above another, but Jesus/Jehovah God are!!!

Orthodox theology assumes a dual nature of Christ, so Jesus would have been fully man....so even if he could be shown to have had children or was married, well, this would itself be great confirmation of the longheld belief in the humanity of Christ.
Dan Brown of course treats Christianity almost as if it was a thoroughgoing docetism....that the church fathers had to choose between the deity of Christ or the humanity of Christ. Has he never heard of the phrase "hypostatic union"?
And is it at all possible to prove that Mary Magdalene and Jesus had an intimate relationship?
Of course not.

I dont think it would be an issue. There is no reason why Jesus was not allowed to marry and bear children. He would have to be married to have sex as he died sinless. Remember that angels are said to have come to earth in Noahs day and had children.
The issue is whether Jesus really died as a sacrifice. If he did not die, but moved away with Mary and had a family than there was no Ransom paid for forgiveness of sins.

What if he died of old age? Doesn't the ransom thing still apply? -

I loved the book and movie of the DaVinci Code. It is a work of fiction of course but it does raise some interesting religious ideas. The book caused me to do a lot of biblical research which I enjoyed. Personally I don't believe that Jesus image as a savior would be destroyed if he had been a father and husband as some Christians believe. In fact I find it rather sad that their view is so limited.
I fully believe lots of stories and so called exeriences were made up about Jesus Christ by early Christians. Basically he was just a rebel of his day questioning the religious foundations he had been raised in. He is not unlike many of us. I still love reading the bible, and even find it inspiriting in its wisdom. I do believe that the divine feminine is spoke about through wisdom in the bible. Wisdom is referred to in a feminine way, and part of God. So can we we say that God is both Father and Mother all rolled into one? Lots of interesting perceptions to explore.
I loved the movie the DaVinci Code, I hope all Christians will get off their fear and see it.

Jesus could not die of old age. The wages sin pays is death, and so as a perfect man Jesus could not die. That is why only he could repay the blood of Adam. Eventually he would have to be sacrificed in order to be the mediator.

Neither have most JW's.

Not necessarily. What if sex outside of marriage is not a sin? Jesus broke lots of society's "rules" during his lifetime, to make a point about heart motivation and how simple God's laws are versus man's laws.
Maybe love really IS all you need.
