I think it is BM 33041

"In the thirty-seventh year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of the country of Babylon, he went to Mitzraim (Egypt) to make war. Amasis, king of Egypt, collected [his army], and marched and spread abroad..."

No, I didn't mean the part about the battle. You said there was a reference to the conquest of Egypt.

What is THAT reference? Did you imagine it? Is it made up...conjectured; like an imaginary friend that keeps your favorite dogma blanket safe while you sleep?

Auldsold I have one big reason for believing the 40 year desolation happened. Jehovah said it would. The other little reason I have for believing is the bmchronicle posted above.

But I keep wondering why is this being discussed on a thread about 607. It seems there could only be one reason since it is 587 proponents who want to discuss it. What would that be?

Because you keep harping on it.

3rd Witness,It rained on Noah`s ark for 40 days and 40 nights...Mose`s was in the mountains for 40 days...Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 day`s...How did the number 40 get so lucky in the BIBLE?Was this as high as anybody could count in ancient times?Maybe it was the only number invented at the time?..In ancient eastern literature the number 40 means:"Many,Many." It is not an actual number,40 is a term used in those days that meant:"Many,Many"..."Ali Baba and the 40 thieves"..Did Ali Baba really have 40 thieves?..NO!.He had Many,Many Thieves..Do you get it yet,or do you prefer to be stuck on stupid?...OUTLAW

    thirdwitness: Jehovah said it would.

Okay, now we are getting somewhere. You don't have a reference to the conquest of Egypt, but you stated you did.

Like the WTS, you claim that there are secular references that support your argument when the references actually do nothing of the sort. You have learned well, young Sith.

Your entire reason for believing the 40 years happened is because Jehovah said it would. Which leads directly to one inescapable question: Does everything Jehovah says will happen occur exactly as prophesied?

Now, if you answer that one Scripturally and then reexamine your basis for belief in the 40 years of desolation for Egypt I think you will have discovered something about the reason we "evil" apostates allow room for the possibility this has not been fulfilled until we have corroboration that it has been fulfilled. It isn't necessarily because we reject the Bible, in my case it is because I trust that Jehovah didn't want to destroy Egypt unless they made him do it.

So, just answer me this: Does everything Jehovah says will happen occur exactly as prophesied?

Your tabulation is shonky because it is easily seen that the Tishri, the seventh month = September/October could not have fallen in 538 but only occurs in 537 BCE for the first year of Cyrus from Nisan, 538 to Nisan 537 BCE. For that crucial year to have fallen in 538 then you have in the accession year of Cyrus not his first year.

You're being an absolute twit. You state that Cyrus' first year ran from Nisan 538 to Nisan 537, in agreement with the Watchtower Society, and then you claim that his first year was the year after that.

Your silly and stupid tabulation does not work because you 538, 537 and 536 beginning from January instead of March-April as the beginning of the year so you have replicated an error of three months.

Are you dishonest or just retarded? Go back to the diagram and you will see that I have correctly indicated the months for the starting points of the years of Cyrus.

    Thirdwitness said,

Jayhawk, I answered your question . Sorry but I just do not have time to educate you on how to know if it is literal or figurative other than a few brief statements such as look at the context, see what other scriptures say about it. For example, Revelation was given in signs. The wild beasts are not literal. What do you want me to do give you a run down from Genesis to Rev what is literal and what is figurative. Go study with JWs and learn the Bible for yourself.

I have read the bible from cover to cover. If you had bothered to read my questions to you, I told you not to say "wild beasts are not literal." No kidding! I didn't know a 7 headed lion or whatever does not exist. Thanks for the tip Shirlock! No my question was how can you tell the difference between which is literal and which isn't? You say Tyre is figurative and Egypt is literal. Really? How can you tell? Was there something in the text I don't see that clued you in? Really Thirdwitness, you didn't answer anything.

He has been subjected to a dishonest environment so long he has become retarded by dishonesty.
