I was thinking of an analogy. Let's imagine for a minute that the Vatican has a Department of Public Information and the only way to access the Vatican Library is by associating with the Department of Public Information. The Society wants to write about the Vatican so it associates itself with that Department. Would we expect that no Jehovah's Witness would be stumbled by this?
Great news. The WTS did not commit spiritual prostitution with UN.

Back when you could access the info at the UN site...you had to scroll over to see that the WTS had signed up under "Human Rights". There were other causes they could have signed up for with the DPI, such as Environmental issues, etc., but they ACTUALLY had to CHOOSE what they were going to promote and distribute information pertaining to. As has been repeatedly brought out...it was so much more than signing a form to use the library...that is such a blatant lie. They had to apply and wait for a year to be APPROVED by the UN for membership status. They certainly would not have had to do that to get INTO the library!!! I printed all that info out and still have it...and anyone can spin it anyway they want to...there is no getting around the membership process and what was involved. The WTS knew exactly what they were doing.
They have used the UN in foreign countries that otherwise would not have allowed JW's freedom of religion. I'm sure many in foreign countries don't think it odd. I read once that many of the African Witnesses were used to working with the UN to cut through all kinds of red tape and thought nothing of it as the WTS authorized it.
They are GUILTY of what they have accused all other religions of doing...getting in bed with the harlot and looking to her for help when they should have been looking to God!!! End of story!!! Anything else is just pure SPIN!!!
If they had not been the ones to say it was WRONG, then we would not even be discussing this! But they have made this claim since the League of Nations came onto the scene and ranted about how they were in direct opposition to God and how disgusting it was!!! Now they want to sweep it under the rug and downplay their role as a mere library card....For a giant publishing corp it seems they could have come up with a better excuse than that...and for the JW's to accept is even more pitiful!!!

For those that say the WTS used the UN for special priviledges and to lobby their interest such as gaining freedom of religion in other countries. I say to you:
Look! The UN must've lied. NGO's do have special priviledges. The UN clearly says in their brochure on NGOs:
Please note: Association of NGOs with DPI does not constitute their incorporation into the UN system, nor does it entitle associated organizations or their staff to any kind of privileges, immunities or special status.
But you say NO. This is wrong. The WT did have special priviledges. The UN must also be lying. It is a conspiracy between the UN and NGOs. An unspoken special priviledge for NGOs. Or is it just a special priviledge for the WTS? No, I know what happened. The WTS convinced the UN to put this in the brochure after the fact to hide their special back door deal. Lets go google and find out more. But beware of apostate sites that will mislead you. There might be a couple of them. A couple of thousand that is.

Would you people please read the site before arguing the same old tired arguments. For example, above the point is made about the yearly renewal and how the WT appeared on a list interested in certain subjects. If you read this link you would already know the answer. But apparently you did not bother to read it.

Here are a few pertinent points about what you said.
Yearly representatives and areas of interest
Each year, the DPI required its NGOs to sign the Accreditation Form to state who its representatives would be — to allow them to gain access to the DPI's extensive facilities at the United Nations in New York.
Here we have a copy of the Accreditation Form as it appeared prior to 2002 — before the renewal process began and before the form was changed to become a renewal application. See the form for yourself at this location. As you can see, this earlier version of the form says nothing about supporting the United Nations. The form is merely there to allow representatives of the NGO to access the DPI's facilities. The form itself clearly states:
“This form should be used to confirm your currently accredited representative and/or to authorize newly appointed representatives.”The form the Society signed each year was obviously not a renewal application. To deny this and continue to insist that they did renew their status each year, would be senseless. Interestingly, also appearing on this earlier form is the following question:
“Please indicate your organization's main area(s) of interest (e.g. development, disarmament, religion, environment, human rights, conflict resolution, women, etc.)”Some apostates have found lists of UN NGOs where the Watchtower Society is listed, complete with items such as “human rights”, and “women” listed as the Society's areas of interest. They have noticed how these areas of interest have changed in the records from year-to-year. Therefore, they have argued that it “proves” the Society must have annually renewed their NGO membership because the “areas of interest” kept changing. Yet, as we can clearly see from the form, that question did not appear on a yearly renewal form at all — but on the form to get the representatives their access passes.
It is clear, then, that the Watchtower Society did not reapply for it's NGO status each year, and that the Accreditation Form (prior to 2001/2002) which the Society did sign annually, was simply to state who it's representatives would be along with their areas of interest for accessing the DPI's facilities.

This site explains a lot of things. I just knew that apostates had the wrong end of the stick on this issue. I am glad someone has gone the the bother of clearing things up.

Typical Watchtower propaganda.
Fallacies, fallacies, fallacies.
Seems these people just love Red Herrings.
Everything they claim has nothing whatsoever to do with the issue at hand.
It does not matter what the reason is why they registered at DPI.
The point is: !!!How can it be that at one end the WT tells it's follower to have nothing whatsoever to do with the Scarlet-colored Wild Beast; yet on the other hand
the leaders work together with this Beast. That is the point. This Watchtower Apologetic site does not address the issue at hand.
They take the attention away from the issue at hand and come up with: this is the reason why we registered, or this is the reason or that is the reason. All the reasons are valid, but have nothing whatsoever to do with the issue.
I wonder how much the WT paid to have this site created.
At this moment part of my family is sweating it out at a DC, getting stoned on their poison opium.
Andy of the really super pissed off at the WT cultleaders class.

Avenger is right 3w, plese keep that in mind ....also, let's assume for argument's sake that you're right on all points.....
Still remains the fact that the WT defines the UN as the beasts, and they did get association as NGO through DPI with the UN.
That is clearly silly....
Now tell me, was the Holy Spirit sleeping? the HS must have known what was coming, don't you think? What about Jesus? and Jehovah? what about billions of angels? what about the anointed already ruling with Chist?
are you telling us that billions of entities did not manage, in 10 years, to alert any of the 9,000 or so remnants?
hmmmm......
What about none of the above is watching over the WT?
What about you're not spreading the thuth, but just a lot of self imposed ideas?
what about you take a break?
best wishes,
Stromboli

They take the attention away from the issue at hand and come up with: this is the reason why we registered, or this is the reason or that is the reason. That is indeed the point. All the wt site came up with was reasons why the wts registered. There was no mention of the wts policy, which has stood for over 80 years since the League of Nations was formed, to NEVER have even the tiniest connection with any political organisation. Therefore, when the wts registered as an NGO with the UN, they commited an act of sheer hypocrisy. to say the least.
It's just another example ot wts double - speak, do as we say and we'll do as we like, and you'll have to put up with it or else. To call such people hypocrites is almost a compliment.

http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/111098/1.ashx discusses Watchtower Society reps acquiring NGO status in and of themselves so that through them the Watchtower Society maintains ties with and benefits from the UN.
READ IT FOR YOURSELVES. They did not totally drop their UN ties; did so formally but not so informally or via indirect connections. Another usage of "Theocratic Warfare" on the headquarters level.
