What do they say they're going to do with all those old copies?
Some people will still use them. All hilarity will ensue when they give wrong answers right from their book.

How odd. I was speaking with the literature servant of the congregation I'm assigned to just a week ago and he didn't mention anything about a new printing with all the changes. In fact he was talking about how he and the PO were going to insert the changes with different sized avery labels. I don't believe he'd have left me out of the loop, since it was in fact he and the very same PO who GAVE me a copy of the KN 37 early. I'll see what I can find out about this, but I think somebody may be pulling our leg.
If you can provide scans of this new version of the book with the new changes, I'll be very appreciative.
the Lit servant told her she could only have a new copy if she turned her old copy in.
We have several active JWs that post here that have not mentioned that this is a WT policy to require old books be turned in. I think this is either this individual man's tactic or something is being stretched here.
BTW, I did not understand what was said totally. Are you saying that all the edits made to the old book are now all incorporated in this new printing? If not, then it is not a revised edition, merely a new printing. What would be the point of giving people the edits to update their old books if the new book has all the edits in it already?
I was a JW for 50 years and never once was asked to turn in my old book and believe me I have restudied several WT books at least 2 or 3 times. I did see them suggest that the rank and file get a new book to use to restudy rather than use an old book with margin references and highlights; to look at it from a fresh viewpoint. But we got to keep our old books. Changes were made to the Daniel book without notifying the rank and file which became obvious because some did use their old book and some used the new. Following along with the reader was interesting.

Blondie (never asked to turn in a WT book or even knew someone who had been; and I've known JWs (Bible Students) back to the 1920's)

Well, Opposersupreme, what about this? Can you back up your statements?
Hey Sasquach. No, I am not pulling your leg and actually, there are a few other members here who can vouch for the fact that I am a reliable source of information. I have the book right here in my hot little hands, so I do most assuredly encourage you to get one, or several, for yourself. As to why your lit servant/PO haven't told you that a new book exists, I haven't the foggiest notion why that might be, but I went to the KH to get a copy of the KM and left with a book instead--so, I was just as shocked as you are.I also can't verify why the lit servant at the congregation I went to last night said what he did to the "sister"--I am only reporting what was said while I was standing there, as I, myself, found it odd--but he did say it. I don't have a scanner here at home, but I live near the Twin Cities; if anyone knows of any easy place to access a scanner, let me know and I'll be happy to post some pics....In His Grace, PointlessShrew
Opposer Supreme:
I believe you have just exposed what the rumour of some big announcement is in October. We need to connect all the dots. I suspect your literature servant or whatever he is called these days, jumped the gun.
Blondie:
I suspect the reason they gave out a list of changes is that they do not yet have enough copies printed so that everyone has a copy for October, the month that all the biggy events take place, 1914 etc.
Also, Blondie, I seem to remember sometime in the past that the Society did collect old books. It seems they wanted to corner the market and take them out of circulation. Didn't they request that certain books be taken out of KH libraries. Even if my memory is in error, with all the interest of "apostates" in exposing errors and changes in their doctrine they may be inaugurating a new strategy to cover their asses. Like it says somewhere in the Bible, their blanket has shrunk, and their bare asses and their shame is protuding for all to see. (text paraphrased very very liberally.)
belbab, giggling at the news leak
I wasn't saying that individual MS didn't say that. What I was saying that it was most likely his personal idiosyncrasy or that of one elder. It is not current or past WTS policy to require someone turn in their old book in order to get a new one. I have heard stories on the internet of book burnings in the past but when I checked the KH libraries (and I travel a lot) and the personal libraries of JWs, there the book was that supposedly JWs were told to turn in.
My other question was are the changes from the 9/06 KM changed in the new paperbook version of the Revelation Climax book? If not, it is just a reprinting, not a revision. I wonder how many books are in stock at Bethel. I also wonder if congregations will be told to share any inventory they have locally with other congregations?
Did you check and see if the changes were made in the new printing?
Blondie
I too have seen the book - it is a reprinting ONLY
Blondie, as I said in the first post, the book is a *revision*--NOT a reprint as someone else here has claimed--which is exactly the reason why the literature servant told another brother that I didn't need a copy of the KM (what I actually went to the KH hoping to obtain). My whole point in telling you that the publishing page in the new book says "printing" instead of "revised" or "revision" is the simple fact that, yet again, the Watchtower Society is ***not*** being honest--nor are they being thorough.
