BB, I'm surprised they didn't have her check with some new JWs that might want them for their library. What happened to the days when JWs felt that throwing away a publication was like throwing away the Holy Writ?

Also, I notice that 2 posters here have one of the new paperback Rev books and the "updates" are not in it.
Blondie, from all the info I have pieced together (my own info seperate from this board and in conjunction with it), it seems there are 2 printings of the new Rev. book. One, outmoded in paperback, like all the other older books, and the second including all the corrections. There is no difference between the two cosmetically, since the WT never draws attention to a "corrected-revised" edition when there is a chance it will be placed with householders.
So again, I could still be wrong here, but piecing everything together and only listening to relatively "reliable" information has led me to conclude the above.
Either way, daniel-p, it is going to be interesting keeping it all straight when some have old books and some have books with the changes.
I wonder why the WTS was so ill-prepared that they could not have updated the book and printed enough books before the start of the BS? Money problems...................

I remember this with the SI book - there was 1 1963 versio, then a 1983 and then finally a 1990. I remeber well all three books being present on aThursady night in the TMS. Some elderly were still using the 1963 version. Many had not switched even to the 1983 version and there were the elders using the 1990 version. When the literatrure became free donation basis, virtually everyone switched to the 1990 version.

That must have been hilarious, everyone thinking the other was going apostate! Oh the good times we'll have at the future Rev. book studies....

You HAVE to go to these studies and comment ONLY from the outdated version- work up a bumbling confused "Columbo"-type routine -just act like you don't get in and make them hash out the whole issue every time you comment from the old "light". If it's too out of character it might not work but I'm SURE you could do a little something like that for us. :)
Or if that is too painful, just go to the bookstudies where there are changes in the discussion.

ps- how's the elder's witch hunt going? pm me if ya got any cool stories.
Sounds like there are quite a few non-revised paperback versions of the Revelation book still in the Watchtower's inventory, and instead of disposing of them, they are just going to ship them out along with the newer version until they are gone.
The Watchtower would rather distribute the "old light" edition of the book rather rather than printing up a suffient quantity of the newer revised edition.
The Watchtower just ships anything it has in its inventory.

I understand that the WTS was selling Russell's Studies in the Scriptures into the 1940's.

I know, she was really surprised when she couldn't give them away. I guess there must not have been any new JW's in the hall at that time. As for throwing them out - that's why she had so many, never threw out anything!! But it must have been ok if an elder told her to do it. BB
Didn't they request that certain books be taken out of KH libraries.
I seem to recall being encouraged to throw out the single copies of the mags when the bound volumes were available for the prior year.
And, of course, being discouraged from reading old literature as it would only be confused with 'new light'.
I'm curious about Blondie's comment about book burning...
WHICH BOOK WAS SUPPPOSED TO BE BURNED???
