Can anyone give me a realistic picture of this world today if it existed WITHOUT help from the U.S.? Yes I feel we should be recognized for our hospitality.

Thanks Amazing and Farkel for your comments. Greatly appreciated.

There is no excuse for what murderous terrorists do.
    But
Why is there so much pride here?
Why the distaste for other countries?
    Why so much anger?

Reminds me of the old org
We are the best religon, all othes are bad , inferier from satan evil, when someone hates us they're jealous of us.

The western world only exists in the wealth and security it has because we thats Britian, france, Germany ,Japan, America whatever exploit the rest of the world and its resources.
When i talk of a country I talk of its government and big businesses.
The people who live in Russia , china ,Iraq etc often dont like their goverments don't know any different or cant do anything about their situation.

I find pride in our wealth and achievments distastefull when we allow so much poverty and suffering in other lands and then are supprised when those countries hate us.

There is no excuse for what murderous terrorists do.

If we were in on of these third rate countries land would we act differently, or would we belive the ideals of or present land were correct?

Remmember Jesus illustraiton of the rafter in your eye.
How can you remove the rafter from someone elses eye when you have one in you own?

"I see where the Germans and Italians have opted not to help the U.S. in it's fight against terrorists. Good. Maybe we'll remember that next time they ask us for something. But I doubt it."

Funny how the American goverment havn't helped the British goverment in their fight angainst terrorists.

When did the UK ask the US to help with IRA terrorists? Did I miss something? I do recall that our ex-president Clinton told us that he and Tony Blair had finally put an end to hostilities in Northern Ireland. If that's true, then what other help did you need?

:Ummmm, Sleepy, did you not read the context of this? Farkel was describing the plot of a comedy movie from the 60's NOT a real event. It was funny, go rent it and see if the country in question was or was not "chicken shit".

Don't you just love it when people don't actually read what was written and then make stupid comments?

I'll have to do some work for sleepy and give it some real stats on what the Marshall Plan actually accomplished, too.

I read what you wrote I didn't make a mistake.
You said "...that perfectly illustrates" in regard to the movie.
And didn't put "chicken shit" in quotes ,pardon me for thinking it was your own expression.
You gave the impression you were using the movie to express your opinion of how world events had worked.
Don't YOU just love it when people don't actually read what was written and then make stupid comments?

    Yes you missed something.
It is well publisied over here that the IRA recieved lots of funding from within the USA and the goverment did nothing about it.

By the way over 3,500 have been killed by terrorists over Northen Ireland
In Britian and Ireland. The troubles are still going.

Oh, so if the U.S. government doesn't catch everyone here raising and sending money to terrorists in Northern Ireland, then our government is culpable? OK. If that's how you feel about it.

So, call me arrogant and call me childish but really, I don't give a shit what Euros think about America.

Well, Richard - the problem isn't really what we Eoros think. We didn't actually crash planes into buildings in the US, and most of the terrorists had lived in the US for years. It's also a fact the US had been warned about this 3 months in advance.

But, I believe it's a time to think a bit. The super-arrogant "I don't give a shit what others think" may cost a hell of a lot of US lives. If anything, these terrorists has learned us about small cells. They are far more effective, and there isn't really anyone to "hit". IF you kill some of them, it really doesn't matter. They get to be martyrs, and nobody have to believe these people are afraid of dying!

Remember, there was up to 6 terrorists in each plane!

US has the absolutely worst security in the world when it comes to planes - if we forget about some South-American countries. NO European country would ever DREAM of the about 98% lack of security you find in the US. Even worse - there isn't enough SPACE to produce this security! To get that, traffic need to be reduced 50% - and don't even try to tell me someone is willing to do that.

We will see a short period of strengthened security - and then "back to business" - untill the next plane hits the Empire State Building.

A few years back a plain was hi-jacked on tour to Norway. THE HI-JACER HAD ORDERS TO CRASH LAND THE PLANE IN OSLO CITY! This because we were working with the peace negotiations in the Middle-East. Fortunately, this guy didn't do that anyway - but he told his story after he were to give up his attempt. Little Oslo, in Norway!

So, whate the Euros think IS important to arrogant Americans. The US simply isn't powerful enough to take on the whole world on its own, and you need support and alliances with other countries to make it "legitime" to start a war.

I wonder what was the agenda if the NSA and CIA, who didn't do nothing about this - even though both the Echelon system and telephone warnings told them what would happen!

Maybe the prize was more expensive than they imagined? But I believe they got what they wanted. Billions of dollars to play with, support for the "Star Wars" project (that wouldn't help one single individual in such a case anyway), and arms race like in the good old days.

How much do you think this will cost? And do you believe in your wildest imagination the Eoros will support ANYTHING Mr. Bush would ask?

The US foreign policy is, I believe, largely unknown inside the US. Watching CNN is sickening - it's Propaganda TV. And a voice for the government - as BBC has proved to be to a great degree as well. But check out what is the results of the foregn policy used the last decades. Why should Pakistan help? They are THREATENED to "help" - and what will the US use as a payment for that? They simply will have to CHANGE THEIR POLICY!

Some guys in Washington should soon discover we're not living in 1941 any more!

    Kent:

I do enjoy the things you post and this response reflects my attitude only for your last post and it is not personal. So I trust you will accept it as such.

You must understand that all of my responses to these posts have had to do with threads either trying to understand why terrorists have attacked the United States (U.S. mea culpa) or posts that try to explain why people outside of the United States hate us so.

Some responses to these threads from people in the U.S. have been of the self flagellating nature. Mea culpas for past policies. Other post responses have been from Euros and Canadians who have also hinted that the U.S. has culpability for the attacks of last Tuesday. Given the cowardly nature of the attacks and given the number of innocent lives lost, my response has essentially been, "BULLSHIT". We didn't ask for this and we haven't encouraged this. Nobody is claiming that U.S. foreign policy has been perfect because it hasn't. But whatever errors in policy the United States has made still do not add up to over 5,000 innocent lives snuffed out by pig fucking Islamic radicals. So if Euros and other malcontent Americans are going to jump in my shit about our so-called blame in this, I won't be sharing in any of the guilt. I have mentioned that I have two sons, one 13 and one 15. I'm not at all happy that the circumstances of the U.S. response could at some time in the future put them in the military and in harms way. But the way I and most Americans look at it, living in fear of terrorism is unacceptable. Our liberty was purchased by too many lives who have gone before us. We are not afraid. And if our allies in Europe don't wish to help, or want to try to affix blame on us, we are ready to go it alone. As an American I am not arrogant, but as an American I am proud and that pride was purchased with the blood of my countrymen.

I must add that it is a freaking laugh riot when Europeans accuse Americans of arrogance.

    Respectfully,

    Richard
