DICK, GORE, BUSH & COLIN

There are two problems with this post of mine. 1 You all missed the punch-line, which I even included in the title, and 2. None of you have stated any evidence that Bush is a dummy as alleged, just rhetoric.

Look at it this way, since the discussion has taken this turn. Those who see Bush as a dummy, need to look in the mirro and ask themselves where they are in life. The way I see it, Bush is President, and they are not.

I am not suggesting that Bush is the brightest candle on the block, but he did not get where he is by luck.

And the losers in any election always accuse the other side of 'buying' the election with special interest money. So tell me, who did Bush write check to so that they would vote for him and assure his election? He got elected, and that is that.

And, if you watch old videos of Harry Truman, he could not put two words together to make a sensible sentance. Yet, he was effective and the right man at the right time. Maybe GW Bush will not go down in history as the most eloquent and bright man - but he is honorable so far, and seems like the right man at the right time.

And, I also contend that big filthy rich conservative corporations do not control the media -- at least not according to the left-winged conspiracy theorists. The media have always been big corporations in their own rights anyway. Money has always been the bottom line.

What has happened in the last 10 to 15 years, the media bias has "generally" divided along three camps: TV which leans liberal; Talk Radio which leans conservative, and; Printed media which tries to present balanced reporting, but will lean left if they lean any direction.

As for big Al Gore "inventing" the Internet, yes I am aware that it was soemthing taken out of context. My point was to illustrate how people get sucked into thinking GW Bush is a dummy, because they hear things and repeat them like parrots. People have done likewise with Al Gore. However, Gore's statement about El Nino~ was taken as he said it - and yet he is a big environmentalist - but he does not understand basic environmental science.

My whole point is, who really is truly qualified to be President of a nation, especially a major industrial and military power? No one is truly qualified. But those who do get elected are normally smart enough to surround themselves with good people. Most Presidents have been very good, some better, and some not so good. But, I can't find any reason to smear someone without any good evidence to support it.

You make that sound as if being president is a good thing! It is not. You couldn't pay me enough money to take that job. Most persons who are truly qualified want nothing to do with the dirty political process. That's why you see so few intelligent politicians. The few there are really stand out (and are often looked down upon for being, ewww, intellectual).

Where I am in life is far superior to where Bush is. I can sleep at night, and I can look in the mirror without regret. I'm also smarter than he is, and that genetic gift is far better than power to me.

I am not suggesting that Bush is the brightest candle on the block,

OK, fair enough, that's all I'm saying too.

but he did not get where he is by luck.

Nope, by connections. A year-and-a-half before the election I knew he would be the next president. Why? He already had, by far, the biggest war chest. End of story, he'll be elected.

Even at that he failed, but became president anyway, but boy is that another thread entirely.

And the losers in any election always accuse the other side of 'buying' the election with special interest money.

And they always do. Every time. Which is why men of honor stay out of politics.

So tell me, who did Bush write check to so that they would vote for him and assure his election?

The oil companies, judging by his presidential appointments and favors ever since becoming president.

And, if you watch old videos of Harry Truman, he could not put two words together to make a sensible sentance. Yet, he was effective and the right man at the right time.

Yes, he did OK for himself.

Maybe GW Bush will not go down in history as the most eloquent and bright man - but he is honorable so far

I'll strongly disagree with that statement, but I weary of the inevitable "prove it" cries that will result, so I'll leave that as something we shall agree to disagree on.

, and seems like the right man at the right time.

I can't think of a worse man for this time, but I'm hoping he will surpass his reputation and prior track record and truly surprise us all. Certainly the nation could use a good leader. I hope Bush turns out to be one in the end. You don't necessarily need intelligence for that, just leadership qualities. Bush hasn't shown it yet, but I'm ever hopeful.

And, I also contend that big filthy rich conservative corporations do not control the media -- at least not according to the left-winged conspiracy theorists.

Of course they do, just look at the ownership records of the media corps. All big, filthy rich corporations are conservative. That is their nature. They exist for one purpose, and one purpose only: to increase shareholder wealth by increasing profits. If the news will hurt profits, it gets gutted. That's why the network news, and the newspapers, are shells of their former self. The corps came in and bought them and gutted the news organizations in a rush to increase profitability. Talk to old newspeople who remember the old days, and they will shake their heads at what happened. I am personally shocked at the shabbiness of today's news -- very pretty graphics, not much of value to say, and often dead wrong, provably wrong, but who cares as long as they keep people in line?

    LOL, Amazing.

Yeah, it's a joke that's been floating around that Bush is dumb.

    Seeker,

Are you referring to Bush's seeming inarticulate? Not everybody that has less a than perfect vocabulary is dumb, DUMMY!

    Seeker,

You have GOT to be joking! Bush really is dumb. Every time he opens his mouth he sounds dumb, no further evidence needed. Let alone the idiocy of announcing last week that he is determined "to rid the world of evil-doers." Every time I see Rudy Guiliani (who certainly has his flaws), I am reminded of how a real leader acts...

Dammit... I'm getting freakin' tired of having to agree with you!!! Can't you say something stupid for a change?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    hillary_step,

....neither has he provided evidence to confound this view.

    here, here!

    Calico_Cat,

    Cheney should be president

I'm sorry to be the one to hafta do this, but someone should before all hell breaks loose.

I'm going to break it to you reeeeal easy.... Cheney *IS* president. That was the plan from the git-go. Now you can't say you never knew.

    TR,

Are you referring to Bush's seeming inarticulate?

Nope, malapropisms aren't a sign of intelligence, or lack thereof. And a small vocabulary could be a sign of a lack of educational opportunities, not necessarily an inherent lack of intelligence. Although, come to think of it, he did go to Yale, didn't he? Hmmm....well, he has said it is Laura who is the one who like books in the family, a very scary thought to express in someone who is supposed to be the leader of the free world.

No, when I say I think Bush is dumb, I say so because of his ideas. He seems to have no clear picture of what to do, no matter what the subject is. Maybe it's a learning disability or something, but there is something about him when he speaks that exudes a lack of deep thinking. I felt that way the first time I focused on him, years ago, when he became part owner of the Texas Rangers. This was long before the media began noticing how dumb he is, so you can't say I was merely influenced by the media. He just strikes me as not very bright.

You know a lot of people are have been criticizing Bush since he was elected. I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote at all, because I didn't like either candidate. As noted, Bush isn't really all too bright.

Honestly though, I've slowly gained respect for him. I think his being "not too bright" has made him more human in my eyes. Even on CNN they were saying that when he just ad libs the speeches as he goes, he seems to come across much more powerful. I'm sure that over half of the people reading this will disagree with me, but I think he just might surprise everyone.

How he handles this disaster, can either make him hated by all Americans, or praised as the greatest president in our history. That's a lot of pressure. I'm personally betting on him being a great president. In all honesty, can you imagine if Clinton was still in office? Deep thoughts. LOL

    Amazing,

I read the thread down to your reply to Shelby and noted:

***My post about was meant, in a humorous fashion, to show how thoise who criticize GW Bush as being sucked in by the liberal-biased media.***

Here is a perfect example of media bias. Congresswoman Barbara Lee from Oakland CA. She was the ONE and ONLY dissenting vote, allowing the president to take decisive action, regarding the recent terror.

How was the media biased? They reported in depth the comments of Jerry Falwell (preacher) they made it front page stuff. Yet this left wing liberal, cuba supporting, Ron Dellums former aide, 'socialist' a kind label for her, a member of our congress, her salary paid by you and I, gets no press whatsoever. Biased isn't even the word for it. So what we expected Falwell to be braindead. But what about this elected official that is voting right now on laws, that effect not only her consituents, but every one in America, we hear squat about her!

Anybody care to explain this bias?

    Danny,

I was a bit intrigued by her vote, also. I'd hoped to hear more about it by now... maybe the story will come out. It's a f**kin' conspiracy, I tell ya...

And what was (is?) wrong about Ron Dellums? He had cool hair.

    Peace,

Hey Iam sleeping, don't bother me.

Yeah it's a conspiracy, where's Mel Gibson when you need him?

He was in fact properly quaffed(?), but blah blah blah.(me talkin)

Now how can you take exception to them facts, huh?

    Good nite again friend.

Feeling a little frisky tonight, but nobody wanted to play. Iam tired of being serious, I want to talk about why most jw women, never have experienced a real climax, now that is an issue I can sink my teeth into.
