There's a saying that those with small egos need to stamp on others to elevate themselves. The tract campaign is just more of that by the Society. The oldboys at Brooklyn need to constantly denounce 'false religion' in order to try and elevate themselves in the minds of the r&f and restore their waning image. Did the early disciples go around denouncing other religions as their main focus of preaching? No, they focused peoples attention on Christ. When was the last time the JW's had a tract campaign about Jesus Christ? What did Jesus say about religious leaders who go around thumping their chest and saying how much better they are than everyone else; a certain illustration about two Jews praying comes to mind - one a self-righteous pharisee, the other a humble, contrite worshipper. What did Jesus say will happen to hypocritical religous leaders who think they're so much better than the rest.

Run the numbers. How many active publishers are there? Multiply that times 50 (the number of tracts each pub gets). Now divide 6.6 billion by your previous number. That is the best case scenario of the ratio of people that will hear about this. Now think how many will get thrown away, how many publishers won't distribute anything like their full 50, etc...

Now on top of that throw in real global concerns--people who are going hungry, people who are sick or dying, worries about terrorism, global climate change, school violence, the upcoming mid term US congressional race, the economy, and what's going to happen next week on Grey's Anatomy.

This campaign will have as much effect as... well, as nothing. It won't even be a blip on the world radar.

Short of Rutherford-style religious intolerance and harassment or outright terrorism, NOTHING the Witnesses could ever do will amount to anything at all on the world stage. The numbers are against them.

The constant crowing and bragging about themselves is nauseating, to say the least. WHERE is the humility in the men who run the WTS?

    GREAT questions! And good points!

Any time the WTS decides they can "use" Jesus....it is in connection of doing their "preaching work"...which has little (or NO) resemblance to anything that the first-century Christians said.

Is the WTS glorifying Jesus....or promoting WTS teachings?

I feel that this campaign is a colossal waste of trees and ink.....not to mention the resources of time, gas and vehicle maintenance of the JWs who have "volunteered" to distribute these stupid tracts.

    Welcome Mikeus!!!

The only "persecution" JWs get is when they irritate the hell out of people, announcing that their religion is all wrong and tell them how they will DIE if they don't become a JW.....and yes....it may just happen that this will be a reaction they will get.

Sunspot, it would be different if they got persecuted for Jesus' sake.

Just another doomsday cult that teaches, preaches, practices and condones heterodoxy.

    Welcome Mikeus.

That's what I heard that the tract work starts today. No one as yet has come to my door.

Hope to hear more from you.

yeah... my mom was talking about it like it was big shit, the end of the world and all that.

i had to stifle my laughter.

It's the equivalent of a snotty little kid poking people just to get their backs so they can pretend to be martyrs in front of their mommy.

    Hi Mikeus, welcome!

"She whispered to my wife that this was a new campaign and was not supposed to be handed out until next month, but was "very excited, because this is supposed to bring about the tribulation"."

How absolutely pathetic - the GB is now taking upon itself to attempt to FORCE the start of the Great Tribulation by means of this campaign? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

    Welcome to the forum.

Boy, oh, boy. Some nerve drawing attention to the Catholics and saying they condone child molesters. If I'm not mistaken the Pope came out and appologized for the part they had in any cover ups of Priests who had abused children. On the other hand, how many have been molested by witnesses who are still protected because there were not "two witnesses" to the molestation, and told they would be disfellowshipped if they told anyone what happened!!!!

You notice they did not have anything bad to say about Muslims. Probably afraid maybe a plane would fly into the headquarters in Brooklyn if they did.

good point ... they will probably start talking crap about muslims if they think it will get a rise though. they keep taking stabs at the catholics but they are too easy prey. where's the courage in that? "tempest in a teapot" indeed
