hambeak: Well for one thing she has stated she definatley does not want the job

There is an old expression that goes something like: If you want a good President find the man who least wants the job and give it to him.

The only twist here would be giving the job to a woman, instead.

if an "african american" were to become pres, I can easily see powell being the one. he earned my respect after he stepped down from bush's company. from what I know of him, he is the one man who I could trust being pres.

He probably would have run, too, Jourles. If not for his wife's health issues. He didn't want to put her through it.

Until he showed that vial of US Anthrax to the UN Security Council as visible evidence of the kind of WMD Saddam possessed, I had a great deal of respect for him. I know he was only following orders in presenting that Photoshopped slideshow presentation and I could tell he didn't believe half what he was saying, himself.

Before serving in the Dubya Bush Adminstration, I believe Powell could have been elected President. I'm not so sure now.

    Respectfully,

The idea is interesting. She's a proven commnuicator (Reagan's strong suit). From what I understand of her business dealings she's a capable administrator, also positive as that is what the President is supposed to do (and also why Senators don't necessarily make good Presidents).

A voted for Ross Perot in 1992 largely because he wasn't a politician.

She will be told what to say and how to react, like all of the previous persidents

I don't think that sounds like Oprah! LOL!

I also seriously doubt she would even entertain the thought of running, but stranger things have happened.

I think with her ability to deal with people on a personal level and being fair(diplomat), has smarts enough to pull herself up from poverty to where she is today (brains), and knows how to spend a buck and when to save one (finances), on these points alone, I think she would make a much better president than we have seen in the a very long time.

Never going to happen, She has no experience in the political field, she has no experience in the military industrial field, she does have good screen presence and is probably sincere in a lot of her beliefs, but lets get real, she isn't leadership material especially for this country in this time and place in history. Just my $.02 of course. But I would never vote for her under any circumstances for President of this great country.

I admire and respect Oprah. I think her idealism and energy would make her an exellent leader. However, "power does corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely", so maybe it would change her in some way. Besides, she is black and a woman-two stikes against her in the mind of many.
