Oprah who? Do you mean the talk show host? That's the only Oprah I can think off? Didn’t know she’s in politics. I don’t know, maybe you are talking about someone completely different. fts

If Oprah was made president it would just be the ultimate statement in the stupidity of the American voting public, not that they have any credibility left as it is.

You must not be an American or Filipino. But you were a Jehovah's Witness, right? Bahhaaahaaa

I'm just a Brit looking in. I love Oprah. Do you think a black person could become president any time soon? I thought Jesse Jackson might have pulled off the nomination some years back - but, alas, no!

If Powell ran as Bush's VP (and he blamed Bush for the mess in Iraq) he'd the frontrunner for '08. Hell, if he decided to run, he'd probably still win.

If Oprah was made president it would just be the ultimate statement in the stupidity of the American voting public, not that they have any credibility left as it is. Americans are not far removed from Filipinos - childishly fascinated with famous movie and tv personalities to the point they give them political power, rather than voting for persons for their real intelligence, principles and political ability. In fact, Americans are even more naive than Filipinos when it comes to voting - Americans vote on the basis of family connections and nepotism, eg, George Senior and now George Junior, Bill Clinton now Hillary. Pathetic.

Yadda, what's the gripe with Filipinos? Anyhoo, your last sentence is exactly why some feel that we would be just as well off voting for Oprah as another Bush or the like. The Bushes even make Bill Clinton look good. Hah! Arnold, Jessie, W - what difference does it make? Until a real statesman - or statesperson - emerges from the dross currently available - Oprah looks as good as any.

I think a black person could be nominated and win. I think a woman could. And a black woman. I do not think that Oprah would be elected, but many would vote for her and she would definitely mess up the pollsters predictions.

I think she would be very opposed, but if elected, she would have the power to do a lot of changing of the country. She is very smart, but political(in the sense of decision making for a nation) sense may not be her strength. She has a soft heart, and I don't think I would want anyone who has too much soft. Then again, if she was the best offer on the menu!! I like her.

oprah will not be president because she does not want and will not accept the job. however, i did see her show today, and it looks like she would heartily endorse barak obama for president should he run. she twisted his arm and made him promise he would make the announcement on her show. since her opinion is so well respected by so many, maybe our next president will be her endorsed candidate.
