Get a bottle of Xango and take 2 oz. in the A.M. and 2 oz. at supper every day. Unless there's something seriously wrong, you should notice a difference within a week. My 2 cents.

Everyone needs to find out the source of their own back pain! There are many remedies given here and some are good, but some can cause further injury! I was an exercise fanactic and so kept my abs in very good shape...however if you have degenerative discs or herniated discs...be very careful of the exercises you do!!! You should only doing exercises prescribed by your dr. Pretty much the only thing allowed by my drs at this time is walking, and not much of that! As I have 3 discs that are affected in my lower back, I am trying to avoid surgery, which could end up in paralysis or even death! I have been to some of the best back surgeons in the country and none of them will operate at this time as they feel that surgery could make things even worse! I have tried pretty much everything written in the above posts! Acupuncture---they finally told me they couldn't help me!!! Bought and then sold the air mattress! I bought a magnetic pad and used magnets on my body for a while...that helped some and I do get some relief here and there. But the best mattress I like is the Nasa Memory Foam and Pillow!!! There are different levels of firmness which is great to choose from. I have also had a water bed, the newer version, which I also liked, but had to sell when I moved. The type of mattress that you like probably depends on the type of back problem that you have!!! The best thing to do is go mattress shopping and go test them out and see which one feels the best to YOU!

    HAS ANYONE TRIED THE DRX9000???????

Kaput......you get rich schemin heathen bastard! Quit tryin to plug your MLM on us poor souls! Tee hee

Mulan says heat pads are not good. I heard the same if it's a "dry" heat......but a moist heat will work for many.

Crunches for the tummy will do wonders as has been said as most peoples tummies are not in shape because stomahs are not used as is the arm, legs, etc.

Flyin.....you'll love a memory foam top. We bought one for a second bed and it was only about 99 bucks at Costco. We have a bed with it built in as a pillowtop and it's great.

Has anyone mentioned stretching? Pelvis pumps are good as well as many others that stretch the back and legs.

Yeah, I know some of these things....it's just getting myself to do them. I'm waitin for a pill that just makes all the pain go away that isn't addictive....but gives you the same effect as the opiates. Opiates ( vicodin, Norco ) does the job, makes me wired, makes me feel good.......but makes ya not go poop and swells the prostate to where it's hard to pee and messes with yer sex life. Am I bein to blunt here

Seems like 8 out of 10 have back pain. I've always wondered WHY so many do.

Silly question: We all have back pain cause we inherited it from Adam and Evil.

So...do you, and HOW do you deal with it?

The only way that's any good: massage therapy. I get a note from me doctor once a year and my benefits pay for it. I've also made an appt. to try the chiropracter as he's supposed to be quite good.....the thing is, now that OHIP has decided not to pay for chiropracters anymore, our benefits don't cover it all----just 80%, but it's better than nothing.

These are jes temporary measures of course. The new System of Things should be here any time now, so back pain'll be a thing of the past. That'll come in handy when we have to start loading all the dead bodies up eh?

FHN asked: What about those new NASA memory foam beds? Has anyone tried one yet? I'm thinking of getting a mattress topper made of it before investing in a full mattress.

You'll love it----I've got one for my bed and it makes a world of difference. I got it at WalMart for $80.00. I was going to get another one, glue it to the first one I got so that it's thicker, and then put it on the bed. Someone told me that if your doctor writes a note saying you've got chronic back pain, that my benefits would pay for 50% of the cost of the Nasa memory foam beds.......That would still cost me a fortune, and the toppers from Walmart work pretty good. You just have to make sure they're evened out as they can scrunch up.

What else is new gumbblunt? j/k

I've had back pain for years. I dislocated my hip in an ATV rollover (it won). My back has never been the same. I used to suffer from sciatica really bad but for some reason and I have no idea what I haven't had any of that pain for months. I have no idea why unless my nerves died which is fine with me!

I can't lift anything heaver than a bowling ball or move (push, pull) furniture around the house without straining my back which causes me to have back spasms. When I get that going I usually take soaking baths in very hot Epsom's salts and use heating pad also DMSO on the area with Super Blue cream. I take Tylenol and and Lodine to get me through the pain.

Other than those suggestions gumbpainintheass I would recommend avoiding the activities which causes your back pain. You now have an excuse to lay around and scratch and fart.

It’s funny that you have posted this Gum cause I did not see it till now...( I sent you a reply pm about 20 mins ago)

Yeah, I have chronic back pain. Lived with it for about 6 or 7 years now. I have to have surgery but, have put it off now for about a year. At first when I was told I needed surgery it was almost a 3 year wait before they decided it needed to be done and also for them to get me time in the OR.

I now, just live with the pain for now and have it controlled with a Duragesic patch.( Pain medicine constantly flowing through my blood stream) I don’t bitch about it anymore cause, no one listens anyway’s so, I do what I can and know what my body will manage

I always have a heating pad on my back which by the way, you have to be careful with those cause you CAN burn yourself with them. I have scars on my lower back from blisters bursting from the heat of a certain pad..This heating pad I am using is a new one. It is made by Sunbeam and is the sport one. Be very careful for anyone who purchases one. They get extremely hot ....DO NOT FALL ASLEEP WITH IT ON!!!!

I also sleep in the NASA bed. Not the foam top one but, the whole thing is like that. It was very expensive but, the best investment I have made for my back problems. Yes, you can have a glass of wine on one side and bounce beside it and the glass will not fall over..We tried it!!...lol.

I think, bottom line when you have back troubles for so long, you need to know what your limits are...Everyone gets sick and tried of you moaning and whining about your back pain! The key is about managing your pain before it comes on full tilt.

I recently had epidural steroid injections which helped for about a week. Others get relief for a year or more. This is less invasive than surgery. Rehab did not work for me either but many articles I've read put this on the same level as surgery as far as helping. I underwent decompression surgery last month. Facet joints were thinned out, L5-S1 disk was removed, pedicle screws and bars were attached and the disk space was filled in with my own bone graft material to form a fusion. Formanens were cleaned out. I feel great now. Still wearing a brace till fusion is complete.

The last couple of years I had started to get neck pains, which would sometimes leave me with a chronic headache all day. Recently I looked out for a shaped memory foam pillow and got a deal with a memory foam mattress topper, too. I can't believe the difference it has made to my overall sleep, which in turn affects the whole of my day

Gumby I'm slipping this "off subject" post into your back pain thread. I know you won't mind.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - No one was buying hell on Friday -- or at least its red-hot Web address.

HELL.com was among hundreds of Internet domain names up for auction in Hollywood, Florida, by domain asset management provider Moniker.com, a unit of marketing services firm Seevast Corp.

The owner put a minimum price of $1 million (527,000 pounds) on the underworld's domain, confident of high interest after the salacious address, Sex.com, sold for about $12 million earlier this year. But there were no takers with bids failing to reach the reserve price.

"The world is still alive and well. Nobody is going to hell right now," Seevast Chief Executive Lance Podell told Reuters, adding that the domain would now be part of a silent auction.
