Yeah, I bought $200 worth of meth but it was the first time. I was curious and tempted but I threw it away...

    or

I asked the hotel to give me a referral for a massage therapist. I had no idea it was a male prostitute I was going to for THREE YEARS...

"some" of the allegations are true...

Bottom Line: If SOME are true - might as well be ALL are true! Or do you think everyone on the planet is an idiot, Mr. Haggard?

This is the front page story in Colorado Springs, and all over the evening news. He was seen fleeing his home with the wifey and 3 kids with him in the car, pursued by the TV news vans. All looked Haggard. Funny thing is, at first he denied everything. Now, some of it is true. What's to be revealed tomorrow, all of it is true?? He lives in a posh gated community in the Briargate area of northern Colo. Springs, very pricey. Maybe he'll get a sweet severance check, and become a pastor with Metropolitan Community Church.

bikerchic . .yeah, okay, the guy may be guilty of everything that has been said about him, or maybe NOT . . .we just don't know for sure, so why right do people have to hang this guy from the nearest tree? First of all, he is a human being, which translates into the fact that he is frail ( capable of falling from Grace ). I believe we all know what that feels like. Yes, he may be a hypocrite . . .there are many everywhere. However, I try not to judge people because, for one reason, I don't want to be judged. Why should it bother me if this guy did some drugs and found sex somewhere that to him was gratifying ? He alone has to come to grips with his conscience, if indeed it is a conscience matter.

This guilt trip type of thinking which dominates JW's and Evangelicals is one of the biggest problems that our society faces . . .IMHO.

Well, this guy is president in a church with 30 million members. A guy who has come out strongly against homosexuals.
If there is anyone who has been judgemental it is him and his followers. It is no wonder that people find it a bit interesting.
He has bragged about his chumminess with President Bush and claims to have
weekly contact with him etc.It can hardly be surprising that a person who has aligned himself with such prominent
homophobes will be met with some pretty tough scrutiny if he turns out to be gay himself.

With the "outing" of several gay men within the ranks of a party that publicly condems homosexuality one must ask the question
if there isn't a pattern. It seems that those who are the most vocal gay bashers in that commuity is actually adressing the gay
person withing themselves in a desperate effort to control their true sexuality. Tragic indeed that US society still is so backward regarding such matters. In our last conservative government the minister of finance didn't face much problems as openly gay.
He is a brilliant politician and well respected based on his merits and actual performance in politics. We have had a gay female bishop
which was well liked and respected. This just remain a "problem" in certain backward societies because certain elements can use it to scare homophobes in order to get votes to gain power and keep it.

I disagree. To me it's not about the actions he's been accused of doing. It's that, if true, he preaches one thing and does another.

    Blatant hypocrisy.

To me, it's like the elder who sexually abused me as a kid, getting up on the platform saying sexual immorality is wrong. (And yes...he did that.) What do the Jehovah's Witnesses do? They hide and cover-up and allow this guy to stand on the platform and allow him say such things with NO repercussions because it's my word against his.

There's something to be said about this level of dishonesty, and to me seeing him get what's coming to him for this hipocrisy is due and appropriate (if true).

Tigerman does present an interesting irony.

If it's proved that the guy did this then he's certainly a hypocrite. No bones about it.

But what does it also say of those who gloat? Haven't we got a general unwritten policy here of non-judgementalism? What if this guy had been a JW and was DFed and came here? What if he had been repressing his homosexuality for years and finally couldn't take it any more and additionally stuck his nose in a bag for escapism? What if he had condemned homosexuals, while repressing that side of himself, mainly because he had been raised to believe it was wrong, and because it was the party line? While there's the added weight of responsibility if the guy was a CO or DO, I'm guessing we'd still accept him here.

Tell me this, since I'm a Christian, as many well know: Would I be presented with such ridicule if I were caught in such an act? Y'all know me as non-judgemental, but would the same distain be offered me, just because I claim the title Christian? What does that title say to you? Does it really speak of unimpeachable conduct, or (as I would rather have it) a claimed relationship with someone who forgave even those caught in the act of adultery?

Quick disclaimer: Now although I'm a Kinsey 2; I'm pretty much as heterosexual as they come; have only received back-rubs from women, even though I have several gay friends; and have never done meth. However I'm sure there are plenty of other things folks might to exchange those words with. But that having been said, if I did engage in such behaviour, could I expect to be pilloried?

All that aside, Six's original post was pretty darned funny
