    LittleToe:

I'm quite content with the concept and practice of healthy scepticim. What I object to is hyper-scepticism, where something is discounted without even considering it.

Agreed. A "hyper-skeptic" would be someone who refuses to look at the evidence and has already made up their mind that something is impossible. That can be frustrating for those who have evidence for their claims. I am skeptical only of claims with insufficient evidence to support them. I consider all claims, but (tentatively) dismiss those that require my worldview to change significantly without a correspondingly significant level of evidence. I consider those who do not do this to be gullible and those who are happy to believe extraordinary claims with little or no evidence to be "hyper-gullible".

Later this week I will post other things she has done. Which others on this thread that know us personally can testify is true. How she has done it I can't say just she has.

Derek:That seems a reasonable summation. Having discussed more than a few things with you in person and online I acknowedge that this is your approach. I can't fault you for it. Mine is only slightly modified, in that I keep an open mind to the possibility (leaving people their pride) without actively believing something to be true nor asking to prove beyond dispute that which they evidently cannot.

Like you, I find frustration in the two (hyper) ends of the spectrum, also. But I additionally find frustration in my own experiences not being replicable on demand. If they were I'd be more than happy to demonstrate them to the world, because IMHO mysticism is one area that orthodox science tends to shy away from. I understand that it's become unfashionable in the last 100 years, and reputations are coveted. But still, I find it disheartening to see so much branded as psuedo-science that might otherwise be taken a little more seriously. I guess that's unlikely to reverse until someone finds a consistent telekinetic method for curing cancer, or something of a similar magnitude...

    Dear Skyking,

Wow..that is really strange. I am really sorry about your nephew!! What a tragidy!! What a hard thing to live with. Hiding that for so long must have been really hard on her. I can only imagine how scared she must have been to not know how you were going to react. Especially being a Witness, and having that ability, just shows that it wasn't the demons.

My grandmother before she died did a very strange thing. She was a very faithful WItness too. One day my Grandfather had to go to town. When he left she told him to be careful and NOT to pick up any hitchhikers. My Grandfather thought that was a bizarre statement to make because he never had ever picked up hitchhikers before. But she made him promise he wouldn't so he did.

Well..you guessed it..on the way to town a couple were hitchhiking because their car broke down. My Grandfather like the great guy he was, of course stopped and gave them a ride..they hopped in the back of his pickup. All the while he was a little freaked out.. remembering my Grandmothers words. He was a artist by trade, and scetched their faces by looking in the rearview mirror all the way to town. Nothing ever happened..but it gets weirder..

When he returned home safely, he crumpled up the sketch and thew it away. He was not going to tell her that he DID infact give some hitchhikers a ride. But somehow she knew. She went to the garbage and went to him with the sketch and said, " I thought I warned you not to pick up any hitchhikers." He was blown away!!

Anyhow.. I know my Grandmother WAS NOT into ANYTHING spiritistic! She was VERY normal and a very faithful Witness. That was the only time I know of that happening..but it is still freaky to think about!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

Well, I've had the occasional omenous dream, but nothing compared to this. If this is for real, and who am I to say it's not, the last place you should go to is the the JW's. They have no real knowledge of either demons or mediums. Unfortunately, many people outside the watchower won't accept it either. On the whole, mankind has always feared what it doesn't understand.

I'm sorry, that's not very supportive. I'm very sorry about your nephew. What makes me happy is to see many supportive people here. My prayers are with you and your wife, where hopefully someday our world will not be so afraid of people like her.

    skyking,

my mother had the same gift. I remember as a child that she had a dream of a plane crash and it happened within the same week. Also of a yound boy being kidnapped. This also happened and the boy (Ethan Patz) became a national headline. They never found him but my mom went to the police with information of his whereabouts and the police laughed at her. My dad used to laugh too so after a while, she stopped talking about the dreams.

Although when I was 11, mom jumped up from a nap and exclaimed that her mother had just died - she did.

I get mostly premonitions. But I did have a dream shortly after my mom died in 2001. She came to me and told me she returned for my dad. As far as anyone knew Dad was not sick at all. It was so vivid I told everyone about it. Within a few days dad did not feel well and went for a checkup. The doctor found lymph nodes swollen in his neck and under his arm. Within a week he was diagnosed with b-cell lymphoma. But the doctors said the outlook was good. However, mom told me in my dream dad would not make it. He didn't. He died one year to the date of her death. I think mom was trying to prepare me. I've had other things like this happen too, not dreams but just "knowing" something was not right.

Heres one: One day my son went out to play with his nieghborhood friends. About an hour later I got an overwelming feeling my son needed me. I jumped off the sofa and ran for the door. My daughter ran after me asking what was wrong. I ran down the street and she followed. I told her I think your brother is in trouble. I found my son in a wooded area a block and a half away - where some neighborhood bullies had beat him up. This event triggered my son's asthma and he was having trouble walking home. They just left him there knowing he was having trouble breathing! My daughter ran back home for his inhalor and after he took it he could walk home with us.

My son told me on the way home, mommy I was crying for you and I told him "I know, I heard you". Lilly

    I loved your story Lilly.

They say everyone has psychic abilities . .you just need to learn how to tap into them. If I knew how to do it, I would.
