Yep fading is the way to go. It worked a treat for me. Just be prepared to suffer a massive drop in your social life (but remember that most JW's are only really in it for social reasons/pressures, whether they know it or not).

There are things you can do to avoid putting unnecessary stress on yourself or your family. This thread may help you http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/34518/1.ashx to formulate a plan.

If you are looking for more real info on how the WTS works, check out "Crisis of Conscience" By Ray Franz. Your local library should be able to get it for you.

Thanks for the information Lady Liberty. Right now im not sure what to think. Im really mad right now.

This is natural, we all went through that stage, some to a greater extent than others. You may feel like venting as you learn the truth about the "truth", but I would recommend doing that here for the time being, until you have a plan that you've thought through fully. Otherwise, the reaction of your friends and family may be similar to this...

Yeah leave or fade, whatever works for you. You are so young and have your whole life ahead of you. So many people on this board, myself included, have thrown away the best years of our lives in a religion we don't believe in.

Don't waste any more precious time in a cult which is evil and based on lies.

Hi there Hamilton and welcome to the board. Ringo recommended the book Crisis of Conscience. That's a must. Also must see websites are http://www.freeminds.org/ http://silentlambs.org/ and http://ajwrb.org/ They'll give you a real taste for the Organisation you belong to and represent. Like the others have said, carefully plan your exit from the cult.

    Good luck and keep posting.

Hi Hamilton, and welcome to the board.

Fading is a good idea, that way you don't lose friends and family overnight, as you would if you disassociated.

It's only natural to be angry - they were stealing your life from you by pretense - the difficulty with understanding it is that they want it so much (the illusion) themselves that they'll lie and tell lies, and even believe it most of the time

You must have read some of these things?

....the pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared

    And the "earthly paradise"

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While you preach against stealing, do you steal?

    Hi Hamilton,

Welcome to the board. The issue you are facing right now, is to have yourself under control and make an informed descision. For me, it took a weekend to go through all the stages of madness, sorrow, disappointment, re-evalluations etc. But coming up with a plan......Like amazing said: walk away....but really walk away.....is something you can do in certain circumstances and if you are strong & independent enough. Fading is an art and if you have only family & friends INSIDE the borg, than you´ll have a long way to go.

You care fully need to plan how you will fade out....how to fend them off, to cover up your initial responses to chanleenges and show different ones.

So, you basically have to descide whether you brace for impact on a once in a lifetime blow or a gradual retreat with all the boobytraps that come with it.

Whatever you choose to do, keep your goal in focus, don´t get sidetracked by stuff they might throw at you. You´ll find support here, so, keep us posted on your progress.

    Cheers
