But surely Paul must have been familiar with the empty tomb story even though he did not elaborate in the ways of the gospel writers, since he spent time with the apostles (esp Peter and James, and later more of them at the council. (Gal 1 and 2, Acts 15).
Ah, you don't know how mean "higher critics" are these days...
They would suggest the empty tomb story was made up, probably after Paul's time... so even if Paul did meet Peter (admitting that he wrote Galatians and that the Cephas he mentions was indeed Peter, which some would question as well) that wouldn't really solve the issue. Moreover, the James "brother of the Lord" in Galatians is distinct from the James of the Twelve in the Gospels and Acts, and according to the Gospels he wouldn't have been at the empty tomb...
