Even if it was possible to hack the Watchtower Org. to pieces, splinter groups will take its place. Reminds me of the cartoon of Mickey Mouse hacking up the magic broom, only to have more appear.

It's hard to say either way. I would give anything to see it fall, but it will take alot of work. The internet is slowly chipping away at them, and their numbers are dropping. I bet alot of witnesses are tired of hearing the same old "armageddon is near" crap. The fact that alot of JW's have started going to college in the past few years shows that they are planning for a future and not heeding "Mother'Org's" warnings. The WT Society is losing control and they know it. There seem to be alot more "worldly" JW's now, and the diehard shunners are fewer than in times past. My only wish is that more of the news media would pick up on the JW scandals. With the news media it seems to be open season on Catholics and born again religions, but the news media seems almost reluctant to expose JW's, political correctness I guess. Dave

I do not believe that this is feasible, realistic, nor even required.
What can, and has been changed, are the dangerous anti-social elements within the religion. The 'blood' issue, the disfellowshipping issue and the like. The changes are slow, and sometimes hardly noticeable, but gradually by the process of social evolution and by the agitation of individuals who will not take 'no' for an answer the WTS is being bought more mainstream as a religion. Once it reaches a more mainstream position, as the SDA church has done, it will become as benign as any other religion.
Over the past 100 years the WTS has proved that it is willing to compromise principle and doctrine to survive as an entity. It will continue following this imperative over the decades ahead until it will bear little resemblance to how it stands as a religion today, just as it bears little resemblance to the religion it was in the 1920's and 30's.
The future is here and it will take time for such religions to notice this, but the WTS is prepared to evolve to survive and will continue do so.

And, most importantly, they need to drop the two witness rule and report ALL suspected abuse cases to the authorities. Until they do these two things, I'll do my best to encourage them. Once they're gone, I think I'll finally rest. hear, hear- Stevenyc- my sentiments,too.
The only thing I would add is- And they stop disturbing people's Saturday morning slumber and coffee with their worthless tracts and literature.

I doubt any outside force can take out the borg, they keep adapting... Think about it:
If conditions in the world get worse, it's a sign of the last days, but if conditions in the world improve, it's a sign of peace and security which means the end is near.
If numbers grow it's a sign that Jehovah is blessing their efforts, but if they stop growing it's a sign that the number of right hearted people is dwindling, so the end must be near.
If they get something right ( Like they claim they did about 1914, but that's a subject all by itself.) It proves that they are Jehovahs chosen religion... Praise God. But if they get stuff wrong and then correct it, it's a sign that Jehovah has given them 'New Light' Praise God again!
If scientists discover things that seem to support the bible, it is accepted right away as fact and they praise god for the wonderfull truth. But if scientists discover things that disprove the bible, it is evidence of Satan trying to deceive them, so they must draw closer to god and so the scripture about not putting trust in nobles is proven true, and they praise god for the wonderfull truth.
If someone comes into the borg it is evidence that god is helping them grow, but if someone leaves the borg it is evidence that god is helping them get rid of imposters.
If they are under ban it is evidence that Satan is persecuting them, but if the ban is lifted it is evidence of gods protection.
It's pathetic! No matter what happens their faith is strengthened, and if the same things happen to other religions it is taken as evidence against them! They can't lose... the only thing that can stop them is themselves, the individual witness has to pull his head out of his butt and start thinking... but they don't since the collective mind thinks for them.

It's very unlikely - but it isn't impossible. However, there are only a few ways it could happen.
First, there will never be any mass uprising by Witnesses. Once you have swallowed a 120 plus years of false prophecy and still
repeat the "Armageddon Soon!" mantra, you're hooked. Being a Witness is an addiction, not a rational life choice.
If you look at congregations that have fallen apart, you get a clue of the only way they could be wiped out. You require a disaster
at the top because that's where their loyalty lies - to the mythical "faithful slave".
You would need a massive and successful lawsuit to wipe out their assets - or a disasterous doctrinal change. You have to kill this
snake by cutting off the head , so that the body will die - otherwise it will be slow and painful, with occassional rallies.
