I think that withthe power of the internet, and the thousands of us that have left, there is a good chance. I just hope it is in my lifetime.

Does Anyone Really Believe They Can Knock Out The Watchtower???
You know, I don't expect to see the end of crab grass in my lifetime either, but I still spray for it. It may be impossible to stop horrible people from pulling the dysfunctional crap that the wt has pulled, but we can at least limit their effects and give people a plethora of sources of research. Seeing as how they ruin the lives of those they convert, at least we can make it damn difficult to convert someone in the first place.

I don't see it happening in my lifetime, It's all a numbers game turning over new recruits in developing nations IE South America , Brazil , Mexico etc, and Africa some of the growth rates there are still high, and Japan, South Korea, Philippines,

No, it's a market driven religion. As long as there are buyers there will be the WT product. Like cigarettes, as sales fall off in the first world, then the promotion takes off in the third world.

I think that they are doing a good job of destroying themselves on their own with their cockeyed policies that are becoming more and more bizarre as time goes on.

!914.....well.....that's central to the whole Watchtower 'raison d'etre' therefore they're totally buggered on that one within the next ten years.
The Watchtower may well exist for many, many years to come BUT it will be a shadow of its former self and in time.......cease to exist.
Basically, I think we could all sit and scratch our arses and with very little effort from us the Watchtower will, say within thirty years slide into oblivion.

Just a thought: Witnesses searching the internet find sites like this for discussion as well as sites that are mainly informational. Personally, I think the internet is the best means to attack the cult. That and when a JW sees firsthand that no love really exists by these Pharisees.

Oprah could hurt the Organization, I agree. But the Organization feeds off of adversity. And if they're numerically doing well, it's "Jehovah's blessing". If not, it's that the "love of th greater number will cool off". Every base is covered.

Not wanting to sidetrack the thread, but I agree:

So what we want to do is help the individuals. Let the core believers say and do what they want. If we help the individuals, and the internet information continues to help new ones steer clear, the WTS will be virtually ineffective. It's a long road now.
My Oprah comment was basically that information could get out faster with help from key places. California courts are helping now. Internet search engines can't help but be key distributors of fast information. I suppose that Randy Watters, David Reed, Danny Haszards, and the folks at Silentlambs are doing more than others. Keep up the good work. It won't be a knockout, but WTS will be used up by the 10th round, going home a broken organization.

Minimus - You're right in that they appear to have every base covered.
However, no matter how powerful the WTBTS is, it cannot stop the march of time. And in TIME they will be shown to have been spouting lies since 1874!
How many times can you say 'sooooooooon' without people starting to smell a rat and deciding to do something about it, even if its just a drop in their service hours and stopping contributions. The WT will not suddenly disappear. But like the sea's action a cliff, they will slowly be worn back and eventually disappear. But that won't be any time too soon.......just in time!
