I haven't had that type of conversation with any relatives, however my brother calls every year to remind me(bully me) into attending the memorial™
Last year I told him to mind his own business and to keep his peer pressure(bullying) to himself. I'm curious to see if he will call again this spring.
In case anyone is wondering. I didn't attend.
They really should change their tune, because NO ONE is listening to that old record anymore.

Recently, we had a similar experience when we received the Watchtower's latest brochure, THE END OF FALSE RELIGION IS NEAR, in the mail from our son. He attached a small, yellow sticky note which said, "Dad & Mom: Thinking of you - Please reconsider your feelings, you may still have time. Love, Your son.
His concern for us was appreciated; however, we would never reconsider going back to the abominable Watchtower religion. Of course, there are many reasons, but especially in view of what the above mentioned brochure states on page 2, under the sub-heading "False Religion..." Here Watchtower lists three ways to identify false religion. The following is the third way:
“TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Even churches that condemn immorality have tolerated religious leaders who have sexually abused children. ... Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?"
It's beyond us to understand how our son, who, because of our experiences, could send us this brochure when he full well knows the Witness organization tolerates its own leaders who have sexually abused children. He knows the "two-witness" rule, which protects pedophiles, is still in effect. And he knows before the Dateline program aired, the organization refused to allow abuse victims to go to the authorities when those victims could not produce an eye-witness to the crime. The question begs asking—Why would he send us this brochure, us of all people, hoping that we would change our minds and return to the Witness religion before it's too late when he knows that we consider Watchtower leaders hypocritical and unscrupulous? We can only hope that he was sincere and maybe didn’t notice the Watchtower’s words accusing other religions of the very act that they are guilty of themselves. If that isn’t the reason, then there is nothing more to say here that could excuse his actions.
It seems to us, minimus, the warning, "Get back before it's too late" or words to that effect such as our son used, is what the Witnesses are being instructed to tell XJWs, and this has caused them to feel a sudden obligation towards us. And knowing the type of psychological manipulation the Watchtower uses, in all probability, the Witnesses have been told that if they don't warn the wayward now, their own lives will be in jeopardy. (It's business as usual with the Watchtower.) We would like to think our son sent us the brochure with his note attached, out of concern, but, since your aunt used basically the same type of warning, it would appear that this is another tactic the Watchtower leaders are using on the flock to scare them into trying to scare us. Well, in the case of this ardently anti-Witness couple, it didn't work.
Perhaps, minimus, your aunt and our son will reconsider their feelings when nothing happens to end all religions by this time next year, or the year after that, or the year after that, or the year after that...........
