This kind of speech sounds shocking to Christians who have never heard this kind of cultish reasoning on the scriptures before. But those in the org are fed this manipulation several times a week.
Scriptures are presented weekly from the NT and the OT where Gods reps were to be respected and revered for it meant life or death.
It is a multi-layered tangled web of power and deceit they have weaved for over a hundred years now and millions are caught up in it.
Instead of assisting people to be strong Christian soldiers on their own standing up to Satan and doing good in the world in the name of Christ, they are creating and maintaining prisoners and slaves unable to live on their own, unsure of themselves, out of touch with their own consciences and heart, and unable to think and read the scriptures purely without the contamination of the Watchtower misinterpretation.

That's what I was thinking when I was reading the article. I thought "...What do people at the doors think when they read this crap?" If I read something like this in some "Christian" literature, I'd be shocked.
But of course, when you're raised on this nonsense, and are forced to ingest it several times a week, it sounds perfectly normal to them.

Splendid post Mary, you raise some very compelling points. I always thought that mythology of the 1918 inspection was very smart because it is unverifiable while "giving" them some magificent credentials. The other point there is how did they all get tested and refined by fire? Nothing dramatic happened to them as for example happened in Malawi. Also te teh myth of the GB of the early Church nobody there claimed a monopoly of authority or revelation as do the FDS. And what happened to that "GB" after 66 AD when the church of Jesusalem got scattered? Who ruled after that?

Oh, they like to use their experience of several higher ups (including Rutherfraud) getting thrown in the slammer for Sedition. They also like to say that Jehovah allowed this to happen because they weren't stressing "preaching" enough. Ya, whatever.........

No one really.....at this point, they'll forget Jesus' promise that he would "be with" his followers always, and switch to the illustration of the wheat and the weeds.....they just gloss over 2,000 of Christianity's history and claim that the weeds were dominant and only the occasional person was a "real Christian" during these times, but it was impossible to tell who was who.
