Are you talking about GOD.....In my opinion GOD "IS" the Master of and inventor of Science.

Religion however is just another man-made belief.

    Excellent post bavman.

I would add that, in the current epistemological context where the autonomy of science is granted, religion and philosophy are wasting their time and specifity when they attempt to dispute the scientific narratives (e.g. cosmogenesis and evolution) or to provide alternative ones (creationism, ID). Whether such narratives are right, wrong or perfectible, is a wholly scientific, not religious, issue. The specifically religious vocation is to help people relate their subjective consciousness, individual and social, to reality as perceived through the contemporary scientific narratives (were those only regarded as the provisional "present truth"). This is the religious job science cannot be expected to perform, except by becoming unscientific. It involves both a hermeneutical task of reinterpreting ancient traditions and a creative philosophical effort. And a popularisation concern which academic science, theology and philosophy are generally lacking.

From Handsome Dan: "Yes, but he did get his PHD. at a well know and established university...." Yes, but where did he rank in his class?

Absolutely not. Many in science would love to promote their atheistic religion by denying religion any validity. Religion and science are not mutually exclusive as long as both allow mutability and play by the same rules. My faith allows that so I'm not at war with scientifc facts though I feel justified in following scientifc practise to disagree with the interpretation of the facts and utterly disregarding the agenda of many in the scientific community.

James, "so in a way, whichever we choose," it's not the same. Our choices determing our future.

Choosing ignorance or superstition over knowledge and science is definitely NOT the same in any way, shape or form. Otherwise, we would all still live in the Dark Ages.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I am not at all religious and choose science over religion in practical day to day existence. I find it far more interesting. However, what I was attempting to point to is bigger: the REALITY which exists no matter which filters we see through, be they religious or scientific. There is a REALITY that does nor require or need our meager religious or scientific mental constructs and paradigms. It is as it IS; and it can be met with and realized when the mind is silent of its renderings and facsimiles.

Certainly MQ, you must have some sense of a genuine reality other than the abstract concepts fluttering about in your little mind.

"Absolutely not. Many in science would love to promote their atheistic religion by denying religion any validity."

Atheistic religion? LMAO....get real Qcmbr...I'm assuming english is your first language so I will remind you what a "religion" constitutes: A collection of individuals sharing a common faith in a supernatural framework...given the obvious fact that atheism is the ABSENCE of this "belief" not to mention the fact that atheism does NOT constitute a "collective" philosophical framework, your use of the term is absurd. I do find it amusing however that you consider the term "religion" to be a slur! LOL...

"Many in Science"? Hmmmmm, do you have list of names? Funny most of my colleagues dont give a sh*t about religion in any sense of the term. I am aware, however, of your horror over the fact that the scientific method has most certainly invalidated YOUR religion and its mythology....LOL....

"Religion and science are not mutually exclusive as long as both allow mutability and play by the same rules."

Play by the same rules? Hey good idea! Next time I run an experiment I will gather all my grad students around the monitor so we can "pray" for the result we want! LOL....Its stunning that you could be so utterly ignorant of the complete chasm that exists between the scientific method and "religious" modes of thinking. Do they have no science curriculum at all in your education system? Scary indeed.....
