Marlene Bielak: Suffered months of bullying at the hands of a colleague who disapproved of her homosexual lifestyle. A lesbian shop assistant is in line for more than £120,000 after leaving her job because of a colleague's taunts about her sexuality.

The one thing that irritates me about cases like this, is that you can get £120,000 ($240,000 US) because someone is bugging you about your sexuality, yet if your boss or co-worker just decides to make your life a living hell because they don't like you for some other reason, you get squat.

My sister recently got fired, for no other reason than the new boss didn't like her. She brought in more business than anyone else there, but she wouldn't kiss his ass so he let her go after making her life a living hell for almost 2 years. By law, all he had to give her was 6 months' salary, which worked out to about $25,000, but after taxes, she ended up with only $14,000. (She had been at that company for over 12 years.) She went to the Labour Board and they said there's nothing they can do as long as he paid her the minimum requirement. She can't afford a lawyer and wouldn't get a whole lot more anyway.

Why does sexual harrassment get so much more than just regular harassment? Both are wrong, but the settlement for both should be closer in value.

1) I would love to hear how this plays out in the KH. They should DF this woman for swearing if nothing else, but they'll probably give her a medal or something.

2) Mary: your sister should make a list of all her contacts and see if she can get a job with the competition. If she was bringing in that much business she should have some leverage some where. Payback might be fun.

sbf - once you realized the trend of this forum, how come you continued to post? Aren't you hanging out with "bad association?" Shouldn't we report this to your elders? I wonder what they would say - where is your congregation anyway? I think you are trying to have it both ways - you hang out with apostates on the one hand and on the other hand get in little snide self-righteous digs from your position as a practicing JW.
