Announcements in Our Kingdom Ministry

I was at the TMS/Serv.Mtg. this week. They handed out the Memorial Invitations during the announcements.
They also gave 50 copies to each publisher. Technically, I am an active publisher until the end of the month
then it will be 6 months of no service, so they should have given me my 50 copies. They didn't. Oh, well.

I thought I would share the announcements that are printed in the Our Kingdom Ministry that were shared during
the announcements. They are printed in the Feb. issue.

+ The Special public talk for the 2007 Memorial Season is entitled "You Can Feel Safe in This Troubled World!"
+ A packet of legal material is available to assist publishers who are involved in lawsuits over child custody and
visitation matters in which our religion is under attack. The packet should be requested by the body of elders
    only
(italics theirs) in a case in which it is evident that the publisher's religious beliefs will be at issue. For
those facing secular issues on child custody or visitation, helpful information can be found in AWAKE! of April
    22, 1991, page 9.
+ For those who wish to make donations to the worldwide work electronically, a set of instructions is available to
explain this arrangement. For further information call (718) 560-5000 or write to Watchtower, Attn: Treasurer's
Office, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201-2483.

I offer these announcements without comment. I just thought many would find them interesting or strange.

OTWO, let me be the first to thank you for the public announcement.

I look with interest to the comments that will surely follow.

I wonder if the child custody packet is updated...? I have a child custody booklet on my HD.

Now that's some wishful thinking there. Why on earth would they invite people to a church dinner and then tell them not to dine ? totally insane if you ask me.

My English copy of the OKM for February 2007 didn't have those last two announcements you posted in it. Rather, it had:

    • The secretary and the service overseer should review the activity of all regular pioneers. If any are having difficulty meeting the hour requirement, the elders should arrange for assistance to be given. For suggestions, review the annual S-201 letters.

There wasn't anything concerning legal material nor electronic donations. Since I'm not in a congregation inside the U.S., I think my OKM is slanted for the country I'm living in. I suppose those two announcements you had only pertains to those living in America.

You're right OTWO, those announcements in your copy in the States are a bit interesting. Thanks for posting them. Otherwise, I would feel left out.

OH, NO. Fifty apiece? I dread the annual parade to my door---I'll get no less than 5. Let's just hope I'm 'not at home'.

So you were sitting there in the midst of all your brothers and sisters while the attendants handed packets of invitations to the audience and they reached over you to hand a packet to the person sitting next to you but completely ignored you? Am I envisioning this correctly?

Nothing like excluding people from their pet projects to make them feel all warm and fuzzy, huh?

You can't bounce an electronic payment. I'm still waiting for the day when they announce that you will be able to set up an automatic monthly debit payment from your bank/credit card account to the www. Brothers, imagine the convenience that an automatic debit payment would provide. No more writing checks or having to carry around extra cash. You can even find us on the Bank of America electronic payees list. What a wonderful provision from jehover!

I don't think every cong. gives 50 to each publisher. I am in a foreign language cong. with small number of publishers, so
they have 50 to spare. DC invites- everyone in every cong. is supposed to get 50, I believe.

No, sorry. It was late, and I didn't screen my typing. They handed everybody ONE copy, and later reached past me to
hand my wife a packet, but it wasn't during the meeting- it was afterward. Otherwise- correct.

I started to say, "Where's mine?" but I knew, my Book Study overseer knew, why bother?
