Just for the record, I am sure that electronic transfer is directly from your
bank account to THEM without your ever going to the evil internet. They
use the web, but you don't have to.

Similar to many creditors getting your check in the mail, but electronically
zapping the money out of your account that instant, or the credit card
company doing it instantly over the phone.

How will this new payment plan affect the local Kingdom Halls? There are a lot of people out there who do banking online so I can see them utilizing this venue. That being said, if even 50% of the congregation decide to use this method, will they bypass the local Hall and submit the money directly to headquarters?

Right now, only about 50% or even less, actually donate enough money to pay for the upkeep of the Halls, so if half of those do decide to pay direct, that will create even more shortfalls in cash. Then what? sammieswife.

Wow. I read things like that legal guidance for child custody 'attacks'...and it just makes my brain and my body go n - u - m - b ............. It makes me so ill that my active JW ex-husband/ abuser/ rapist would have all that loving support and counsel at his finger tips--it really shows that Jehovah is on his side............

I have to agree with sammieswife. If people give to the WWW this way, most people don't know the
difference between local needs and WWW, so they will have given direct and give nothing in the box.

Even if they do remember to donate to the box for local needs, will the CO visit and say to the cong.
that their WWW donations are down, or will they say "Brother OTWO gave electronically, so that
goes toward your congregation donations." ? The organization is all about the money, so the cong.
needs the credit.

This is the way that the HQ can get more money faster, then pressure the cong. to get their donations
up where they used to be.

that is strange , how a church that condemns the web and won't even supply the internet connection so you can send them money can suggest using the web. When they need money fast , suddenly the web isn't just for porn and apostates . Soon there will be ATM machines at every cong .

Yes, it's that time of the year when they get the "annointed" out of mothballs and parade them up to partake. According to Ray Franz, that is there contribution. They're ONLY contribution.

Taking it a step further......maybe a leap ...but ....

It is about the money - and control. They are already cementing their control via the new Watchtower printing for JW's only. Another way to make them feel 'special' and it will definitely work. They seem to be beating their chests over the last year by preaching obeyance to the Elders. So..as for the Kingdom Halls...

Congregation members who donate now, will continue to do so and many will embrace the direct deposit plan. Those that couldn't or didn't donate then, won't donate regardless. So - those hangers on are worth nothing financially. The Watchtower could in all reality sell off most of the Kingdom Halls they own and pocket the cash. Magazines could easily be purchased through credit cards or online payments. All donations could go direct. They could triple up on congregation hall uses or simply eliminate those halls that don't have enough people in them and promote more at home groups. Nothing is beyond possible when the bottom line is money. ......sammieswife.
