Hey Ninja, I recently secure the 1989 WTs in the blue binder. Yep the Jan.1st is there. Are you sure if I make a copy of the magazine there wouldn't be any doubt. As rare as that issue appears I think I would hate to part with it.
Anybody want to sell me the original Jan 1st 1989 watchtower?

Hey Mary, The issue was Jan.1,1989 and page # 12 end of paragraph 8 the statement follows: "The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century."

They didn't know enough to tamper with this one since it was 29 years before the turn of the century -- plus, recall that it was only 4 years before 1975. Too many in headquarters secretly knew things wouldn't go further than that. And this one's on their 2005 WT library CD.

I don't want sound too negative, but even if you do manage to get a hold of an original copy of the magazine, it may not have an effect. Believe it or not, Witnesses have been conditioned( maybe brainwashed would be the correct term) to be suspicious of anything that might cast doubt on the Org. Even their own literature is suspect.
When a true believer is presented with a particularly damning quote like the one you describe, they will sometimes claim that its some kind of forgery. Seriously, they believe that somewhere out there, apostates have their very own printing operation turning out bogus Watchtower publications just to try and make the Watchtower look bad.
When in reality, the only organization I know of that reprints Watchtower literature with subtle but important changes made, is the Watchtower itself!
