No Apologies has it right, they do claim that there are evil apostates making fake copies. Easy way to fight this is to offer to pay for half (they pay the other half) of testing the ink and paper. It can be done but is very expensive. That will shut them up, did in my case with a ms anyway.
I don't want to be a downer, but the quote won't do any good. It isn't presented in a prophetic way-whatsoever-and will be summarily dismissed. I used to find old mags and literature and photocopy (when it was $$er, and was accused of falisifying things or told that I got them from apostates who altered them-there is no way to win with some JWs-most of them)
There's a much easier and cheaper way to show a 20th Century quote than find the Watchtower magazine. It's in the book "The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah" WTB&TS 1971 page 216 paragraph 9. "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom."
I remember pointing that out to many in my congregation, some I knew, even a couple of elders had to read it twice, did not read their copy of the Watchtower, a lot of eyebrows were raised on that statement.

Hey JW daughter the question I asked this person was..."do you think the watchtower would ever doctor the books..or change them"? the answer was of course ..no...I showed photocopies but couldn't show the original magazine...so they wouldn't accept it outright ...they wanted to see the original...and it had them thinking
remember anyone wants to sell their copy....name your price....and after I wake up from fainting..(after all I am scottish!)I will pay it!!
ninja; jw's had me running around for years researching thier own material. then when i found it they laughed it off. do the smart thing tell your jw friend to ask around and for him to find an orginal copy .and the bound volunes to see the change. let him know if he can't find it on his own your not going to waiste your time , as you already seen it for your self. till he looks it up for you . i would tell him he can't prove anything. and how can we get to the next wt lie till you yourself research it? doesn't the bible teach to prove all things TRUE? get to it brother. i learned this years ago. make them research. when they don't call them dishonest, and not to be trusted... you can go a long way with this. john
doesn't the bible teach to prove all things TRUE? get to it brother.
And make it snappy!

About 47-48 C.E., God, through holy spirit, indicated a decisive move for the expansion of the missionary work. The record at Acts 13:2-4 tells us: "The holy spirit said: ‘Of all persons set Barnabas and Saul apart for me for the work to which I have called them.’ . . . Accordingly these men, sent out by the holy spirit, went down to Seleucia [the seaport of Syrian Antioch], and from there they sailed away to Cyprus." How thrilling that must have been for Paul and Barnabas—sailing to their first foreign assignment! The apostle Paul was spearheading the Christian missionary activity. He was also laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our day.
