CANCER - AND THE DANGERS OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE!

    Hi (((((((((Juni))))))))),

I'm not very informed about stem cells Ian, but in what way should the donor not be related? Blood type? relative?

And do they, UK, accept stem cells from other countries?

In the UK (as in the USA and elsewhere), first of all siblings are tested to see if they are a perfect match. Unfortunately, my dear sister isn't - though she was desperately hoping she would be! She would do anything for me.

In the USA, I believe, but not the UK, older children are now being tested to see if they can be a match for their parents. I have no idea about any international stem cell donor bank. I, certainly, would have no objection to receiving an American's stem cells - but would my accent change?

    Love,

    Ian

Ah Ian....... you always have your humor!!

And perhaps then you would start driving on the right side of the road??

So how do they determine the right donor match for you?

    Hugs, Juni

Thanks for your post Ian. You have made me decide something right here and now. I will go and give blood, which I have been meaning to do for ages. I will ask them about stem cell donation too. That's it, I'm going to look at the website right now and see when I can go.

A lot of people believe that the pharmaceutical companies are conspiring to suppress good alternative methods of cancer cure or are at least failing to follow promising leads provided by medical research, and I don't think this would be beyond them to do as they are ruthless enough. On the other hand if alternative cancer therapies were so successful as their proponents claim we would have surely known about it by now. There are no doubt many charlatans out there making money out of the misfortune of cancer patients but a suspicion persists that there may be something genuine in some of these alternative methods that needs to be scientifically checked out.

I believe the "Linda" he was referring to turned out to be a nonexistent person, an elaborate hoax perpetrated on us by a male poster.

    Former brother:

Alternatives are often good as preventive medicine, but when you get hit with the disease you better go to someone with a lot o real formal education.

Also as greedawn said, lots of JW's buy into this stuff of doctors actually letting people die rather than using some sort of secret cure. I have an in-law like that. She buys into any alternative medicine cure, and everyone has cured her of a stomach ailment that she continues to have to this day after 20 years of many, many cures!!!
