Hi (((((((((Juni))))))))),
In the UK (as in the USA and elsewhere), first of all siblings are tested to see if they are a perfect match. Unfortunately, my dear sister isn't - though she was desperately hoping she would be! She would do anything for me.I'm not very informed about stem cells Ian, but in what way should the donor not be related? Blood type? relative?
And do they, UK, accept stem cells from other countries?
In the USA, I believe, but not the UK, older children are now being tested to see if they can be a match for their parents. I have no idea about any international stem cell donor bank. I, certainly, would have no objection to receiving an American's stem cells - but would my accent change?
Love,
Ian
