    Congratulations, OTWO!!!!!

I wish you the same final chapter as Ithinkisee. (Wife and kids totally out, awesome) That's the fantasy carrot I dangle in front of myself on bad days.

But, as a previous poster mentioned, you've gotta be ready for wherever "the ride" takes you.

She says that since I believed it and got baptized,I should stick with it. What I believed 30 years ago is not what I believe now.

R&R, you get encouraged and persecuted by your unbelieving mate. I guess you can somehow blame that on the
WTS. I really feel for you.

Tell her you have outgrown JW's, not that you are cutting back or quitting.

    Sounds really good OTWO!!

    No more meetings!!!!

I remember my very same discussion with my wife when I had finally had enough of the meetings.

It feels good not to go.

Truth-be-told, I would be closed to them, but they
actually never tried to open a discussion. If they would just try, I would give them the excuse they need to
    stop trying again.

OTWO, any particular reason why you do not want to help them to see the truth about the truth?

Good one OnTheWayOut. Congratulations on saying goodbye to the meetings. It sounds as though your wife is an intelligent and reasonable lady. I know there are many powerful factors here, but I hope that your wife will see you as a strong independently minded man who has the strength of his convictions. It takes guts to do what you're doing, and whatever the cult dishes out I'm sure you'll come out of it with a lot of respect.

So in one hand you want to get out, turn in your letter of resignation to the body of elders. Then you complain about them not trying to baby you back in. What the hell? I would think that's the first thing you would want. If you want to leave, then leave. Don't make a big issue, well they are not telling me what to do, or they should be more caring. Wow, you're a grown man who used to be an elder. You said yourself you know their games. So the other elders know that you as a grown man can make this decisions without being hounded. I agree with the comment the other elder made to you. You have all the publications, hell you were an elder, what else do you need. If you want to leave just leave. Stop acting like a spoiled little brat. Which is what you were acting like when you made your comment, "care about your 99 other sheep and forget about the 1." Shees, do you want to get out or are you just like everybody else here, you want to prove them wrong and make yourself look right. Amazing, people even complain when they are not gettting counsel on their way out.

R6, I think he's made it pretty clear that he's glad the elders aren't bothering him.

So why was it perfectly OK for Saul to renounce his Jewish beliefs and convert to Christianity? Isn't what she is saying about the same as "once a Catholic, always a Catholic" argument?

I think you are handling this very well. Your wife will come around, you are letting her make her own decision, that's smart. The elders probably know you are smart enough to make up your own mind, and there would be little they could do to change your mind and they would have to DF you if they forced the issue. They don't want to have to do that, so consider yourself lucky.
