Stephen Hawking and other say Time Travel is impossible and goes against the Laws of the Universe. At current knowledge levels he is right - in future who knows. Yes of course there is a possibility a God exists

I have drawn a circle, but I am afraid I have found this discussion outside it. In fact I am finding it difficult to distinguish the dot that represents me from the circle that represents my knowledge.

    stilla,

Theoretically time travel is possible. You travel through time at this very moment... er I mean this moment, I mean this moment. It is the current level of technology that makes it impossible. We could on day develope a technology that allows it, but probably not.

As mentioned, anything is possible outside of our current knowledge. I once had a thread asking people what they felt was well and truly impossible. There were very few takers, as most admit there isn't much you can utterly discount.

For me, it isn't a matter of black/white, possible/impossible. It's a matter of likelihood. I find it unlikely that God exists, so I proceed on that basis. Merely being possible isn't enough.

Thank you for your input. While some of the responses are a bit too sarcastic for me to use, I will be using some of these in a paper. I have another Hypothesis that I will test. That will wait till tomorrow. Please keep posting your responses. They have been enlightening.

Edited to add: This is for a Christian apologetics class paper.

Here is the key issue in the God debate. If I may, let me use another example, Lets say you live in an apartment bldg. Now of course someone designed and built that bldg. But guess what? That designer/ builder has moved on to other things. The apartment bldg is run and managed by different people throughout the ages. The original builder no doubt left plans and details on maintenance upkeep and proper uses of the bldg. Over the course of time such info may have been mis-interpreted, lost or just blatently ignored.

Now I say all that to get to this point, Who do you pay rent to? Are you still trying to mail in your payment to the original builder? Guess what he is not in charge. You can send the rent to him if you like but it is not going to the proper manager of the bldg and said manager can hold you in defaultif he wishes.

If you are in any religion today, you are not truly serving God. You are merely paying rent to the current manager of the BLDG that we call earth and life. To be truly free, you must get out from under the burden of paying rent. You must claim ownership of your own souls.

I define myself in these matters as agnostic. Agnostic= a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience. By that definition I would say you can have all the area outside my dot to explain God. But, so far neither you nor I understand what your talking about.

Yes of course there is a possibility a God exists Well, he wont be the one to figure it out then. We need someone like Thomas Edison to work on it.
