Newboy - I just felt selling it as a whole was dirty! :p So it looks like I have to wait 6 months but thats no problem - i will do so then.

I can't donate bone marrow for 12 months after a tattoo but I was also ruled out of that for 4 or 5 other reasons which should with time go away.
You told them about the syphilus then

I was a regular donor until my JW roommate moved in....she had hepatitis years ago and the Red Cross told me I couldn't give as long as she lived with me. I really didn't understand that...I've never had it. Do you all think they misunderstood? Maybe I should try again. Oh yea...when I came home and told my JW roomie what happened when I tried to give, she clapped as if she were so glad I couldn't.

I worked in a hospital way back in the early 70s. The disqualifications used to include
if you ever have had cancer
or if you have a history of schizophrenia in the family
But likely the list of qualifiers has changed due to better knowledge and the improved screening of donated blood. -

That is one downside of being tattooed Crumpet. There's a nice little waiting period after being tattooed or pierced to donate.
I'm glad I gave blood before I started getting tattooed- I won't be able to donate for a while....

Well done, I gave some top quality blood back in the early 1990's but not since then. Who knows one day we may also need to receive blood to save our lives.
