Way back in the 70's, the voices of both Janis Ian and Noosha Fox had a profound effect on an over-hormonal teenager......

Must be the combination of adenoids and lisps....................

Cameo is FRESHHHHH. I love "Funk Funk," "Word Up!", "Back and Forth," and "It's Serious." Prophecor, you hit the nail on the head. If a man listens to a female artist, she'd better be "down with the boys" so to speak, otherwise he looks gay. Sad but true. If the artist has a girly image (Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, etc.), then a man is just not allowed to listen. Also, even if a man's library has even too much of the "down with the fellas" female artists, he gets in trouble. What that ratio is, I don't know. It's just a machismo prison sort of thing. Sorry to be so vague, it's just one of those things I can't really explain with any specific examples. That said, I am down for Lyn Collins, Ms. Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Sharon Jones, and others. Notice that they are all either "strong, independant woman" types or the "get down and funky" types. Nothing girly.

When they first came out, I was one of the few in my neck of the woods that had their LP. I told my husband that they were going to "blow up" and they did! I love "Why have I Lost You", "Sparkle", "Candy", "She's Strange", "Rigor Mortis", and more!

That's cool that you were able to pick a winner. I just liked that they had the cajones to take a shot at P-Funk--playfully, though. Even my friend who digs mostly hip hop heard "Funk funk" and was like, "Whoa, I need to have that song."

My partner in crime for funk music introduced them to me. I had the same reaction: "Whoa, that's some good stuff!"

That video's strange. And I like it.

Too bad there's no Funk Funk video. That came out in 77...too early for that.

SirNose, I think that I posted this before. It's Parliament and the Funkadelics.

Do you believe that I got rid of all of my music that wasn't approved by the Witnesses back in 1986! I can't even find some of the songs! I don't even remember all of the songs! Ain't that a shame!
