AWAKE&WATCHING
I am about to get in the car and head back home to Virginia and the man I love. I have been visiting my family in Ohio for a few days. I miss them when I'm in Virginia and I miss him when I'm in Ohio. I am so lucky to have found a mate for my soul at my age. He is an amazing man and treats me like a queen. A few weeks ago on Valentine's Day I went to my niece's wedding and lamented to my daughter that I was sad to be away from him on that day. I had to laugh when she said, "Everyday is Valentine's Day for you two." It's true that it really is a special relationship. We are so connected on so many levels. I can't believe what a treasure he is. I am a very lucky woman and can't wait to get home.
Now I'll climb in the car and start missing those grandkids as I head east.
Life is beautiful.

Dear A&W:
How wonderful for you!
Safe trip home ...

Greetings!
The best news I've received all day is that shared by coffee_black regarding her grandson's efforts on behalf of the homeless. Action, not mere platitudes - 'be warm and well fed.'
Kudos to you, coffee, and to your grandson and his parents. Down the road there'll be many a poor soul who'll remember David fondly and, when able, pay it forward.

Speaking of coffee ...
My half-empty mug of coffee sits cold, an oily film floating at the surface. The desultory expectation of being jolted into wakefulness by a few mouthfuls of bitter joe is a false hope. Hope is actually too grand a word. Downing a swig of brew past its prime is part of the early-morning ritual that gets my day off to a sputtering start. Slugs like me could never make coffee nervous.
I'm staring out the kitchen window (which gives onto a rough patch of weeds that valiantly endeavors to pass for a lawn), going in and out of consciousness as I contemplate the next of several routine moves that, it is hoped, will get my body into gear. It's too early to think beyond the prospect of brewing a fresh pot ...
Where's the joy - what's the point - of drinking alone?

Sad emo
Ooohhh I forgot this thread in the manicness of life!
Nothing much to report really. Both cats have been ill so much of the last 2 months have consisted of work and twice-weekly trips to the vets.
Yorkie has had a very malignant tumour removed, now we have to hope it doesn't return - he's doing well so far I've just about got him back to 'full speed' and now the other one is suffering with suspected pneumonia hopefully we've started treatment before its really got a hold, should have a better idea by next week.
We've had really good weather here for the last couple of weeks, broken by a thunderstorm and torrential rain today, its a bit cooler now but everything has freshened up with the rain. I have a sore shoulder where the sun caught me unawares on saturday, it is just getting to the 'itchy' stage - but I can't even touch it because its too painful, ouch! That'll learn me, as we say here LOL!

Daily Journal,
Someone's turned up the heat again. Gone, it seems, are those cool and breezy days typical of the Pacific coastal regions ...
