    Hey Jeff:

Loved your post and here are a few of my "rambling thoughts" about it.

    1. You're an excellent, "readable" writer. I always look forward to reading your posts because I know the style will be enjoyable even if I don't agree with you. You are very much appreciated here.

    2. Having said that, we all have to do what's best for ourselves. Some have moved on forever and if that's what's healthiest for them, I'm happy for them. I do, from a strictly selfish standpoint, miss a lot of "old-timers" who don't post here anymore.

    3. I do think Good-Bye threads are considerate. But, like you, I think if I ever did one I'd probably be back here sooner or later. Also, I think the "Good-Bye for awhile" threads like Candidlynuts recently did are thoughtful as well.

    4. One of my favorite "old-timer" posters, Farkel, has many times lamented the virtual blizzard of "fluff" that has become JWD. As a result, he doesn't post here too often. (My words, not his exactly, but you get the idea.) I think both fluff and substantive posts are helpful to many on JWD.

    5. IDEA: What if we had a variation on the "BEST OF" section? Anyone who wanted could submit what they thought was a piece of high-quality writing to a panel of willing reviewers. If it was deemed good enough, it would be posted in the 'REALLY WELL-WRITTEN ARTICLES' section. Has this been hashed over a thousand times before?

Hoping you stay with JWD as long as it's a healthy place for you,

Well said! And clearly many of us feel the same.......

I think of this board as well, a smorgasbord - come in, cruise around, take a tasty morsel here and there, and if you're really famished, fill up yer plate. If not, it's only cost you a few minutes and off you go! Come back another time, and get deeply embroiled in something controversial or funny or just interesting or newsy.

I have suspected many times that "Goodbye," "Bored" or "Moving on" threads generate from a frustration with:

    1. The addictive quality of the board and time spent here - almost a guilty feeling. "People are going to think I have no life!" If it helps to draw a line in the sand - "Goodbye" - go ahead.
    2. Not feeling acknowledged or appreciated. We've all (well, I have) put some effort into posts that have ended up being the nail in the coffin to many, many threads. (Or you post at the wrong time of day for the Brits, etc. and it all gets lost.)

Clearly, Jeff, you are valued here as a thoughtful and well-spoken poster - so stick around!

AK-Jeff, who says you have to be a big time poster here?- I average a couple posts a day- somedays more some less. I don't want to miss the "Big News" WT post that turns out to be really , really, big news. So I keep coming back.

I am at exactly the same stage. My posting rate has gone right down and I am bored. Sick and tired of the political threads and Islamic threads cause my blood pressure to increase. I pop in to keep updated on breaking news such as Barber;s death etc. I am bored but I HAVE NOT OUTGRWON JWD -too many smart people on here for that to happen

Just chiming in with the others. Jeff, I think you and I became addicted to JWD along about the same time. I soon recognized your writing style and level of openness somewhat similar to mine, and, as I've written before, have always enjoyed your posts. I never could keep up with your level of involvement; my total posts are a fraction of yours. But I've continued to come here daily (I'll admit.)

I think, when we first come to JWD, most of us think we're looking in on a "community." But I now think of it more as a "neighborhood." Similar terms, I know, but I think "community" suggests that everyone within has a similar outlook and set of priorities, while a "neighborhood" can contain a vast array of folks with entirely different opinions, outlooks and goals. Some people are here to vent their anger. Some to have a party. Some are here to heal. Some just to get a hug from people who understand.

I too begin to feel alienated from the board when I come here and can't find a single thread to post on. (Happens all the time.) We've said it all before, and just can't get into saying it again. Some stuff just doesn't resonate with me. But eventually something hits me (like this thread,) and I chime in. And from time to time a thought occurs to me, and I consider it a challenge to post it as creatively or meaningfully as I can in an attempt to "help" or even just "connect with" some of my friends here.

Glad to hear you're not considering a departure. And there's nothing wrong with frequent vacations.

    Best,

AK! I check in to get the lastest news about The Watchtower Society. Blondie's " Comments You Will Not Hear" on the latest Watchtower study article keeps me abreast on what they are currently studying, as we don't get the magazines anymore.

I been around since August 04, 2002 five years! I take breaks from posting and making new topics. I still like to read what others have to say on any giving topic and posting. Hopefully we will never really outgrow this site.

As many new ones come aboard we can learn from them what is coming down with the Society ie., The District Conventions, Special Assembly Days, Circuit Assemblies, new light, present truth, legal cases etc. I can't wait to see the " Tort Of Misrepresentation Cases" come to light. Hoping that the Society will get hit hard and have to pay criminally and civilly for the Lies and misinformation that has cost many their lives.

AK, Take a break, check in from time to time. You add much to this forum.
