Oh Oh... here goes again, now that I've changed the whole post sorry about that.

    Hortensia:

You mistake arrogance in me with having high standards. Seems you used to have some too.

you are condescending and patronizing and you are one of those people who make themselves feel "more than" by trying to make others feel "less than."

How true. I think we should cut Rosalee some slack. She has been completely convinced, as we once were, that every pronouncement from the WTS was a voice from heaven from God himself.

She may not be aware that the President of the WTS, Rutherford, bought a house in California and deeded it to the "ancient worthies" who were sure to be resurrected in 1925. She may not know of all the ones who were convinced because of information from the "FDS" that 1975 would mark the end of this system, and of many who sold their homes and businesses to pioneer, and of course, the end never came, and the WTS blamed the people for believing them. She may not know that Rutherford said in 1921 "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" and then later when this talk was being spoken of, as I heard at an Assembly one time, the speaker said the title of his booklet was "Millions Now Living MAY Never Die." She may not know that the WTS said uniquivocably that the ones who were alive and at an age of understanding in 1914 would by no means pass off the scene, then changed it to the ones who were alive in this year, then changed it to new light that the word generation had a different meaning. No admission of being wrong, no apology. She may not know that the WTS applied for status with the United Nations as a non-governmental ASSOCIATE and agreed to promote its views, then asked to be removed when the British Press broke the news.

I think that she has been coming to this site, unbeknownst, of course, to the elders, to try to make what they teach "the one and only truth." Then she hit upon a thread that she just had to respond to. I think deep inside she is trying to convince herself, because, maybe like us, no one wants to be betrayed after doing so much for an organization, and feeling so fervently that they were doing everything possible to serve God in the right way, only to find oneself with doubts.

How horrible to know, also, deep inside, that she must hide these postings from all who know her. She must never divulge that she is disobedient to the dictates of the WTS, as she knows what they will do to her, even if she protested that she was trying to help some "poor deluded souls" to serve God.

Yes, she must be torturing herself. Oh, the inner turmoil.........

Rosalee...I have to thank you for displaying your "high standards". I grew up being taught that high standards were shown by actions, not words.

I guess I could say that I have "high standards" too. For one, I think that a group of bible thumpers that stood on a Brooklyn bridge awaiting their rapture, incorrectly predicted the end of the world several times, appointed themselves God's channel by proclaiming that Jesus invisibly returned in 1914 (invisible of course to everyone except them ), wrote the "Finished Mystery" with a straight face, have instead of raising the bar for "high standards" actually have lowered it to the point of making a complete mockery of organized religion. Is there any group that has proclaimed more unscriptural nonsense than this group?

I believe you have "high standards" for anyone who isn't a JW or part of the WTS. Conversely I think your tolerance of lying and dishonesty within the WTS organization shows about the lowest form of standard possible...namely lying in the name of God. I know its old hat for you, but the fluffernutters you follow actually think that Jehovah speaks exclusively through them. Is there anything that could be more perverse than that? To give unscriptural advice on blood and shunning that has caused the death of thousands. High Standards?

Dear Rosalie, I doubt anyone here faults you for having high standards. But please realize that one does not have to be a Jehovah's Witness to have high standards. It's a big world and there are many people in it who try to live a good, moral, honest life without becoming a member of the Watchtower organization or any other organized religion for that matter.

To imply that someone does not have high standards just because they were once a Jehovah's Witness and are no longer a witness is unfair and myopic. There were people with high standards before God "spoke" to Pastor Russell and there continues to be people with high standards who never heard of Jehovah's Witnesses. In fact, I wager to guess that there are plenty of people in "God's organization" who don't live the high moral life that they preach about. If you peel back the surface layer of the lives of many witnesses, you will find a festering boil that needs to be lanced.

I am presently an elder and I know what I am talking about. Some of the most active witnesses are those that are trying to atone for a past (and sometimes present) life that is devoid of high standards. It's good that you are here. Most people here are good people, fine people, who have had a rude awakening. The organization that they believed taught the truth is nothing more that a multi-million dollar publishing corporation. The religious part of this corporation helps them to avoid taxes, employ workers without having to pay them, thereby to grow bigger and richer. Their operation as a corporation is not exemplary or christian like and they are plagued with problems and liabilities that most corporations are. If you knew about the inner workings of the corporation you would not be so quick to defend them.

You seem to have benefited from being part of the Watchtower organization. Truthfully, many people have. Some people need to be told what to do with their lives. Many people are at a crossroads and the witnesses make them feel superior, special, that have some mission that no one else has. That they alone live high moral lives. That they alone have Jehovah's ear and that he listens only to their prayers. Yes, the Watchtower has perfected their approach and their message. It is why initially so many people fall for their spin.

    Gary,

Well Gary, I would fault a person who confuses what they consider to be 'high standards' with self-righteousness and frankly that is most people who think they have 'high standards', and this of any religion. Nothing in Rosalee's posts indicates that anything other than self-righteousness is at work.

I long for the JW apologists of old on this Board who actually attempted to defend the nonsense that passes for WTS doctrine. Most of them are in mental homes or are proclaiming themselves as Robert ( Jesus) King , but at least they were not boring.

Sorry Rosalee - 3/10 is your mark. I added a point because your name reminds me of someone I once loved.

    Rosalee,

you sound like some old goat with one foot in the grave.

That would be 'old ex-sheep' to you. Treat your elders with a little respect, like your good Jehovah tells you to.

YUK! I think I'll change my name.

Good idea. Try 'Self-Deluded Hypocrite' it really seems suits you.

What a loaded question!! If JWs are better than average people, than wouldn't we all still be JWs?? I do believe JWs are caregivers and are family oriented (whether biological or friends). I know non JWs who are more caring, loving and spiritual than any JWs (including myself) I've ever known. We are (were) looking desperately for the answers that our former religious leaders couldn't provide. We are only imperfect human beings!
