I'll admit that I sometimes talk on the phone whilst driving, although I use speaker phone. but I won't text (both are illegal here).

Someone I know in our small town (she's my age) killed a teenager due to this. The teenager's car stopped in front and the person texting did not. The young girl's car was pushed into the bush and incinerated. The woman had multiple fractures and was in hospital for many weeks, but now she has to live with her mistake.

I nearly got run over once by a car driver who was talking on his mobile while rounding a corner. If talking is bad enough messaging is ten times worse because it requires even more attention taken away from controlling the car.

it IS crazy but I admit to doing it once or twice and im not young! i usually pull over, or use hands free or remind myself that it cant be that urgent as all previous generations hav coped quite nicely without constant communication.

I was almost hit by a Tacoma cop that blew a stop sign while on the cell phone. If I had left from my office two seconds ealier I would have been smacked into.

Maybe he was texting. Had to be it, Brent.

Its a scary world out there. Younger drivers have minimum insurance if they hit you and cause damage your screwed. I worry about driving my motorcycle with all the dingbats talking and texting doing everything but paying attention to the issue at hand, living in the moment.

In some areas you are not allowed to talk on the cell phone and drive, Brooklyn, Ohio was the first city to pass that law. At first I rebelled when I heard that. But I think outlawing cell phones while driving would be more beneficial than forcing people to wear seat belts.

The only reason I am against seatbelt and helmet laws is that it does not allow Darwinism to work (with the exception of kids).
