Weird things relating to females at the KH

With all the news concerning the child abuse lawsuits, and from reading many comments concerning the WTS' view of women, I started remembering lots of little things that were brought up at my KH in the many years I attended. I don't remember anything pertaining to the brothers. But, there were things brought up from the platform that just seem ridiculous. And in hindsight, seem to underscore a creepy obsession by the males in the congregation.

    Examples....

    1. When my sister was about 7 or 8, and was about to go up to the platform to be part of a demonstration, a brother made my mom take her into the bathroom and rip her hem out of her skirt, saying that it was too short and would distract the audience.

    2. A talk was given concerning the black sisters at the hall, who had adopted a fashion "sin" of wearing cream, or white sheer pantyhose to the hall. This was frowned upon by the elders, and they were asked not to wear these anymore.

    3. There were a group of very pretty young sisters in our hall. (I was best friends with the one who was later molested by a brother) They were in age from about 12 to 15. We lived right on the ocean, and they all tanned beautifully. So, they would come to the hall in the summer with their long dresses on, and no pantyhose. I mean, it was always at least 95 degrees. So, you could see about 5 inches of their legs. They were called to the back room and told they could not come to the KH without pantyhose on anymore.

Does anyone recall similar incidences at their hall? It seems to me that a lot of the brothers were really "paying attention to the flock" in ways that were not scriptural.

I suppose this varies from place to place where I was women dressed elegantly though not provocatively and no one said anything, the elders you describe sound very victorian and afraid of the beauty of the female body, like the moslems also do. Too puritanical.

The pantyhose thing.... seemed to me to be kind of like the white shirt thing for the men.

I was spoken to a couple of times for wearing black nylons (they were sheer, not fishnet or anything with a pattern on them) in the winter with black shoes and a plum coloured skirt and matching blouse. It looked very business-like and professional. The thing is, at the time I worked in a high end retail fashion-related business, and the manager and the owner felt that my look projected a positive professional image. So I just said to the Brother™ who brought it to my attention "Thank you for the suggestion. When your advice is going to pay my wages, I'll certainly be happy to follow it." He never bothered me again.

They really hate it when Sisters™ call them on their bull$h!t.

Back in the late 1960's when the miniskirt became fashionable, the sisters were told their skirts had to come at least to the knee and some said two inches below. One witness told me that a brother in her hall had a yardstick and actually measured her skirt.

Sisters in the Ministry School were told that their skirts were too short if the Ministry School Conductor was distracted by their legs rather than listening to their talk. I wondered at the time how the sisters would gauge how horny the conductor was.

So, the white sisters can't wear black hose, and the black sisters can't wear white hose.......geesh

And bonnie...I remember the brothers using a yardstick to measure our skirts.

Any of you ex-brothers remember doing this?

LOL, any time you give an elder a h-on they make up rules for you to change your dress. When I was about 15 I was planning to spend a hot summer day helping out at the construction site for the new assembly hall. The "pioneer sister" (60ish) made me change from shorts to pants. She said me wearing shorts may be distracting to some.

I bet at elders meetings they used the yardstick to measure other things as well.

This was the way it was at our hall. The elder of the school told a sister to put her coat on over her short dress or not do the talk at all. She complied, I would not have given the talk and gone home. Btw. There was this one elder, his penis outline could be seen on the left side of his tight pants when he was up on the platform. My wife and others wanted me to tell him. I wouldn't, and no one else would either. What was he thinking, can't he see himself in the mirror, he was married, don't know what his wife was thinking...headship. Weid one.

I personally am offended if I am told to dress differently as to not distract the males. Why can't the males learn to not be distracted so easily?

Being one that is impossble you could be wearing a burka and I would still be distracted.

But that would mean I am a strait normal man they on the other hand aren't. ( Which technicaly I am not but that would be a long story ) Take that what ever way you want to go with that statement.
