I remember the brothers using a yardstick to measure our skirts
Loosie said: I bet at elders meetings they used the yardstick to measure other things as well.

Ya Loosie, it wasn't their manhood either. It was their noses. (Remember Pinochio?)

I remember one brother saying, "If I was an elder, I'd make all the women wear dresses down to their ankles."

    Glad he wasn't!!

My dub friend was at one of her meetings when they spoke about modesty. She happened to be wearing a skirt above the knees with black high boots and fishnets. She was embarrassed and stayed seated even though she had to pee really bad.

At the quick build at my old congregation, the guy doing the carpark/road area, pulled my (now ex) wife up for one button her blouse being undone, and exposing a little bit of cleavage. That whole society is obsessed with sex, that all the male members can do is think about it constantly - or is that just all men

Didn't any of the women ever ask the men why they were not consentrating on the word of God instead of the women's bodies?

This topic always fascinates me. I can't imagine anyone saying anything about someone elses dress in polite society much less a 'church' type setting. Being too short or I also have heard too long is one thing, there was another thread like this before where the guys knew the women were wearing thongs and the women were reprimanded for that! Any guy that can figure out a woman is wearing a thong is NOT thinking about jah at the moment. Why weren't the men counseled on their lust problem or not paying attention at the meeting? Are men no better than a male dog around a bitch (female dog) in heat?

( to think I'm married to one of these jw men)

If any so called brother ever used a yardstick on my wife to measure her dress, I'd take the yardstick and measure how far I can shove it up his A**!!! Seriously. Who do they think they are??

My mom worked at a major Financial Institution on Wall st, where an elder from another congo also worked.

One day after lunch the elder noticed my mom carrying a few shopping bags, (she had bought herself shoes and other articles of clothing) when he stopped her in the middle of the lobby and yelled at her, "why are you spending your husbands money on trivia things". My mom back then had a few working brain cells, yelled back, when I start sleeping in the same bed as you and you are paying the bills, then you can question me about my purchases, or would you like to talk directly to my unbelieving husband?"

Eveyone in the lobby stopped and when completely silent. many of my mom's worldly co workers we very offended by the elders attitude.

That was before my mom became a regular pioneer and destroyed all of her brain cells.

Ah yes. The fashion police! We didn't have the yardstick rule, but you would be pulled aside or your daughter to be counciled about the silliest things. I had sewn a modest sundress for myself and the back of the dress went down to the top of my bra. Had my husband pin over the ruffles there so no one could see the bra in case they looked down! hee heeeeeeeeee

BUT one elder's wife wore short skirts (above the knee) OMG! She was never counciled. Likewise w/two sisters who wore spiked heels and tight skirts and a pioneer sister who wore nothing underneath her quite transparent long skirts.

It depended who you were...... what a farce....

All horse feathers. The Craptower Society seems to be bent on genericizing the human body. They want no features at all to show, and if anyone shows any signs of differentiation from others, that is not acceptable. This is to play down any and all physical attraction. At least the world is honest about sexuality. It's still there, but the Witlesses try to forcibly repress it in the members. I'm surprised that more people don't just walk out when told to dress differently than what they are (and they already are modest). Perhaps that would teach them that maybe they should loosen up a bit or they are going to lose every single one of their members.

I've never been counselled by elders (or brothers) on my dress, cleavage and all ... strange really. All the flak I've ever received came from other "sisters". They especially loved to call me "materialistic", just because I had an alluring figure and sewed my own clothes ... all of which fit me perfectly. Jealous bunch of ....
