Why not just tell them you're leaving and they're not to come to your house, and you don't care about their punishments?

What does it matter if a made up religion gives you a made up label of DF'd........it's not real! To me it's like my little boy telling me I can't be in his gang anymore; it's just something to laugh at the childishness, and it makes no difference to my life.

Adolfius----it makes no difference to your life...and here is where you are very forunate!! I'm happy for you in that regard--I don't wish the devastating social/ emotional/ psychological/ physical/ financial consequences that JW family and congregational shunning or simply ostracism can have--and DOES HAVE--on so many lives.

I'm glad you're in ignorance of potential consequences...it's shows that your own circumstances are relatively 'safe'--and that's the way I'd rather see it. Read more of the posters' experiences/ stories here. You'll get more than you bargained for of answers that way, even while it's coming in piecemeal.

It's an education--I'll tell you that. One you don't want to have to acquire the hard way.

I think they are worse than Hitler was.

The Society may be evil but I don't think they can beat Hitler on the evil scale.

I used to be hiding in the duct work also, till I realized it is Jehovah that I worship and not an organization (WTBTS), he is my ultimate hope if and when I die or when I lay in bed in the hospital from a condition I suffer from, not knowing if I will wake up alive or dead. I felt bad too for a while and still do at times, when I miss some of my friends who are still Witness's, but like the bible says "a true friend is loving all the time" those that I felt at the time were my friends who were Witness's were really not close friends we all including myself were caught up in the mess of what we call mind control. The best course of action for anyone to take is to maintain his relationship with his creator Jehovah God, you do not need the Watchtower Society to completely do this, I still read their publications from time to time, but I glean what I know is reasonable and what is not I push to the side. If I was to remove most of what is unreasonable and what encroaches on conscious matters from the Witness doctrine then by and large I would have the Bible Students way of worshiping Jehovah, that is where I am today. Yes I realise my experience is very different to most, and I've never had to deal with the fact that all my friends are witnesses and I would lose them if I left. My childhood friends within the borg were forgotten about within a matter of weeks of leaving so I haven't had to deal with the adult life perspective that you all have. Having spent my entire adult life in the "world", if I don't like or agree with something, I can easily take a contrary position and tell it how I see it without fear of comebacks. I know that is more difficult if your "life" is the borg.

It's interesting to see the posts on here as I was genuinely interested in how deeply the WTS influences or controls lives. It's something I've never really experienced.

I have only one obstacle keeping me from completely opening up.....but when I realize all I have said online....most of it has all been said anyway...the person would just have to know where to find it. By the same token, the person is one of those litigation-happy freaks and would not think twice about filing a lawsuit to "protect" her grimy little "name". You'd be amazed at how much venom one of the "happiest people on earth" has rolling around it her head....the kind that is "always right", dontcha know.

Many times I have been just itching to let her have it....and then I calm down and think of the consequences. Frankly, at this point, I am the only one she could or would hurt (that I'm aware of)....and that does make it easier for me to just say "come and get me".....and let the dust settle once and for all.

    I feel its coming soon

    Hi Adolfius,

Speaking personally, for myself that is.I am really The Count Of Monte Cristo and I wouldn't want that information spread around in case I'm caught by the Danglers and thrown back into prison, also I haven't had my vengence satisfied . I'm still learning how to fence and fire my pistol straight.

Hope this goes to enlighten you somewhat.

    Regards, Edmond Dantes.

I left Catholicism for the WT. My family didn't like it, BUT THEY NEVER SHUNNED ME. It was actually ME that shunned THEM.

If you leave the WTS, you will be treated as if you do not exist.

I would gladly give my name , address and phone number to help a JW looking for someone to talk to about their doubts and questions. However, I don't trust that WT Society and it's cadre of sue-happy lawyers. So I shall keep my whereabouts unknown except to proven and trustworthy ex-JW's.
