Personally, I like my wife to wear a little lip gloss, and thats all. Too much paste is a turn off.

Crumpet... I always read your topics, even this "make up" one..... ROFL .....

Obviously as a guy I dont wear make up (but maybe it would help?...kidding).... I really dont understand the need for so much makeup some women wear. And some really pretty women dont need any (or hardly any) at all. And as OUTLAW said:

On the other hand theres just some things you can`t hide with make-up..Like..Ugly

you dont really need makeup do you crumpet?

quick make uprelated story (so as not to hijack the thread...where else and WHY else would I post this crazy story?)... in a previous life I was a retail merchandiser. I would go in and rearrange the shelves (yes, you always suspected it, its true, the retailers do it on purpose, its a conspiracy to keep you their store longer.) The only way to explain what I did as a merchandiser was "defragmenting the shelves". If you understand computer stuff, you will get this comparison. As products are discontinued and new products are brought in, the shelves become chaotic, haphazard..things just put wherever a space could be found. We merchandisers came in and "reset" (or defragged it), made it all tidy again (just like defragging the hard drive brings all the file pieces together, so too with products).....I was assigned to go into a Wal Mart one overnight to do a cosmetic reset....., by myself, no females helping me. Imagine, me (at the time) 30 something guy, sitting on the floor of WalMart, with literally hundreds of different types of makeup, lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, etc surrounding me as I sorted through bad makeup, discontinued, opening new boxes of new product....peg hooks and shelf labels everywhere.... looking at the microscopic chart provided and realizing it wont all fit in the space I just took the rest of the stuff out of.....the looks I got.... but the MONEY was great...at least the jobs I took. ....

at the end of the night, I had all of this CRAP on my hands..oily, funny feel, under my fingernails, tried not to rub my eyes or scratch an itch for gods sake! How the hell do you women put this stuff on your face? And how do you keep track of all of that stuff....I had women tell me "oh, they are discontinuing my favorite shade of putrid green? I better stock up".....Women... Please, dont do wear it for my (or any guys) sake....give me natural beauty if you have it...and do the best you can if you dont...extra make up wont help.

by the way, I think the only reset that was worse (or at least more embarassing) was the feminine hygene product reset.....yes, boxes of tampons, etc all around this guy (but at least there were females helping me that time)...really bad since it was during store hours...pretty bad when a customer asks a GUY "which pad is more absorbant?"....sheesh.... I answered with a straight face by the way and died laughing after she walked away with my recommendation ....... The women who were working with me got a huge laugh out of that one.

I hope you enjoyed the embarrassing story at the expense of your favorite cold blooded snake

I love make-up. I hate not wearing it when I'm in public. It is a bit of a bother to apply though, but I reckon its worth it. I look better that's for sure.

I also love it when guys wear make-up, a la Johnny Depp in Pirates, or Ewan MacGregor whenever. I don't think there's anything immasculating about it, and I'm not attracted to "manly" football loving, beer drinking men anyways. I love the way Rodrigo Santoros makeup looked in 300. Very hot.

Love it! I don't feel completely dressed unless I have it on. I've also switched to the mineral makeup and won't go back to the liquids.

Wearing makeup doesn't mean you have to look like you've been dipped in a vat. Makeup can look very natural if it is applied correctly- it just takes a bit of practice and the right kind of makeup. Too many people slap it on like they are going on camera.

The biggest mistakes made with makeup is wearing the wrong colors and not knowing how to blend, blend, blend! (IMO) You can spot failure to blend in a heartbeat -we've all seen the rectangular strip of blush blobbed on the cheeks with the little brush that comes in the compact and the line where the incorrect color of foundation ends like it was put on with a paintbrush. Eeek!

I stopped wearing make-up, for several years. I went home in tears from my old job one day, and washed my tear-stained face, and decided to put on some make-up, and go back to work. Every body's eyes popped out. I got compliments from most of my co-workers, and patients.

So from then on, I have worn it everyday. I do look much better. Now I wear the mineral make-up, that they advertise on TV. I LOVE it. It is a no brainer in putting it on. I can even walk around the house, making sure child is almost ready, or look for a lost shoe, while putting it on.

My daughter is 15, and has red hair. If she doesn't wear it, she is invisible. My husband tells her "Make-up? Don't leave home without it."

I prefer very all-natural gals. Not only do I not like overdone makeup (a little is ok, concealer or foundation or whatever it's called, and a hint of blush, but not much else), I don't like anything artificial. I'm married now, but back in my single dating days, if I could tell that a woman had fake hair (whether extensions, braids, or whatever) I lost interest immediately. I once turned down a date with a woman who had breast implants as well. I suppose to not be a hypocrite, I should not like fake nails either, but I don't mind them so much...maybe because so many women seem to get them at least once in a while. Whether this is just a reasonable quirk of mine, or a holdover from my upbringing in a high-control religion, I couldn't say with any degree of objectiveness, probably.

That's cool. I'm all natural except for makeup when it's on. I've gotta ask....does this mean you'd adore my dark undereye circles and blemish scars???

The color of a woman's eyes stand out when they do the eyes, other than that I prefer the natural look. My wife is a natural woman. When she does her hair she always puts flowers in her hair. She gets all kinds of compliments with the different kinds of flowers that she puts in her hair to match her clothes and eyes.

I don't want to smell a perfume factory nor kiss lipstick. She smells good and her lips are natural. That's the way WE both like it

Most women's looks improve with it but some are better without it. There is a multibillion pound cosmetics industry that is in existence because of women's desire to add some colour to their faces to dramatically or not so dramatically improve their looks a process that has been going on since the beginning of history (Mesopotamia, Egypt).

I never go out of the house without makeup on....the only time I don't apply make-up, is if I'm sick.

However, I only wear a minimal amount of eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara and some lip gloss or lipstick....sometimes I'll apply a wee bit of foundation and powder, but usually only in the winter.

Make-up is intended only to enhance one's natural beauty, not hide it.
