Make up: Love it or loathe it?

Its a fine balance. But I noticed I get way more compliments on photos in which I am wearing make up from women, but the guys prefer the shots a la naturel. So maybe we wear make up more for other women than guys.

Horrible Life - I though you looked lovely anyway and couldnt tell you if you had make up on or not!

I love it, and I don't care if I have it some days. It just depends on the mood. Mac is the bomb. Some days silly rimel just has the correct color. It all depends on the mood. I tend to be a mood dresser and a mood makeuper. lol If that is a word...

At any rate. I wear it when appropriate. I think, and get down and leave it off if camping, swiming and such. I skip a good 5 days out of the week and wear it if I am going out. I try not to paste it on, and if I must, I try to wear it blended and something that taste swell if it is to be lisked kissed or bit off. Double lol!!

I have just gotten around to taking off last nights trowelling and what a relief that is! I rarely wear make up - maybe once a month, so I probably go over board. I feel like my skin just suffocated for 24 hrs.

What do you love or loathe about make up? Are you an addict? Would you never leave the house without your armour? And guys (who aren't trannies) do you like women with or without? Have you ever woken up to the face on the pillow and not on the woman and been a bit turned off?

all cosmetically enhanced stories welcome here!

(I need a hot bath to end this very long session and to eat as its been a day or two.)

I usually don't feel dressed unless I've got my makeup on. I use mineral powder as my foundation and love the way it evens out my complexion. I wear less make up now that I'm older than I ever did when I was young. Just tweeze my brows, powder, blush, some mascara and lip gloss is all for me most days.

I have gotten into the habit lately of doing way too much around the house and needing to get to work in a hurry so I take a quick shower and moisturize my face and go to work without any makeup on and I must admit it feels freeing! Also good because no one sees me at work as I'm mostly alone and I know absolutely no one where I live so I could care less who sees me!

Arbonne has a great product and is great for the skin. I don't sell it or anything, but get the discount. You ladies should check it out if you have sensitive skin and are looking for a product that doesn't do animal testing and contains very few parabens.

I love Arbonne. I haven't used their make up products but I religiously use their Nutrimin C Re9 line.
I have to use eye make up (mascara and eyeliner) or my eyes will be completely washed out. So I pretty much only do my eyes and I use a really good sunscreen - the best I've found so far is Fallene Cotz, it has UVA and UVB coverage. I don't like to wear foundation because I know that feeling that you speak of- where you feel suffocated by product. My face has to be able to breathe. And I don't do well with lipstick at all since I have a bad habbit of biting my lip, but chap stick is a must- tinted chap stick is good too ;-)

I wear makeup almost everyday, and certainly if I am going out anywhere, other than a quick trip to the store. I used to have "no makeup Sundays", but can't seem to get that done anymore. We go out to dinner or to the Mall, and then have to put on makeup. At my age, it's a necessity, I think. My skin is good, without wrinkles and lines, but I need the cheek color and eye enhancement.

One of my friends told me years ago, that her husband didn't think I wore makeup. To me, that was a high compliment. To look natural, you should not be able to SEE the makeup. I hate it when women have it all gooped over their eyes and faces, with blotchy blusher and colored eyeshadows (unless it's evening makeup for a party or special thing). For daytime, it should be very understated.

I wear make up but not excessive amounts......no foundation. Lipstick, blush, eyeliner and mascara. I thought I'd get my eyelashed tinted a few weeks ago so I wouldn't have to wear mascara for a bit (my eyelashes are long, but they're blonde and you can't see them without something on them). So I'm laying there while they put the tint on them with the instruction "don't open your eyes for 15 minutes" and I ended up having to sneeze. So the damn stuff went all over and some of it got IN my eyes so they had to wash them out. I looked like a stoned freak that day with bloodshot watery eyes from the solution they used getting rid of it. LOL!

I generally don't wear make up on the weekends, seeing as I wear it 5 days a week to work. I have no problem going out without it on. If people don't like the way I look au-natural, dey don't have ta look at me.

I don't wear it anymore. When I first has surgery on my head I used to try and cover up the scar but it was hard to match and blend skin tone.

Like elsewhere, I had a sister who "dressed me up" but she stopped doing that when she realized I was prettier!

Mulan - that is high praise indeed!

So what about make up removal - anyone got any special products, particular for the eyes that dont involve me going blind or blurry visioned for hours?

    crumpet,

For your eyes, I HIGHLY recommend blinc mascara (kiss me mascara) and eye products. They are waterproof in that they won't run or ooze if you cry or go swimming, but when you want to take it off, you just get it wet and slide it off between your two fingers. It creates little tubes around each individual lash instead of gooping them. It won't leave dark circles by staining the skin under your eyes when you wash it off, (which by the way ladies is where a lot of women's dark circles come from). Even if you sleep in it you won't wake up to racoon eyes, just maybe a few flakes here and there. I won't live without it!!!!

As far as the makeup goes, I personally only use the minerals. Like other women have said here, it is so easy to use and looks and feels like you're not wearing any. My personal favorite is Jane Iredale. I usually only use the powder foundation, my eyliner, and my mascara. Eye shadows I have to be in the mood for. I like my lips natural. I hate the feel of lipstick, but sometimes I will wear a sheer gloss. (I have about fifty of them all only about one shade apart but hardly ever use them).

Whatever you do, NEVER remove your eye makeup with an oil based product. It will carry the pigment and deposit it in the delicate skin under your eye, creating dark circles!!!!

So why does Johnsons Baby oil say its great for removing makeup then. And yeah it does leave dark circles for about 4 days! What a doofus I am!
