Makes you wonder who will be "saved"?

So, to be sure you're a saved JW, you must make sure you're well inside the JW side of the fence, so you must pioneer regularly, attend all meetings and comment as much as possible. Have clean thoughts all the time too.....even if you're married.

Nice to be reminded of the fact that grace is a foreign concept to them.

If they said the opposite (that membership in the JW congregation will guarantee you survival through Armageddon), we'd probably be criticizing that too.

All the same, these grim reminders serve as their negative motivation to "keep doing more". Like the verse they often quoted "Keep seeking Jehovah, you meek ones... PROBABLY you may be concealed in the day of his wrath."

The word "probably" was the one they would keep using to throw the fear of Jah into our hearts.

    Blondie,

Makes you wonder who will be "saved"?

Well, Herd obviously feels that he will be saved! In the 90's a visitor from Brooklyn came to the country where I was serving and during a long drawn out talk told the audience that in the GB they speak in terms of only 30% of the publishers 'making it' through Armaggedon. FunkyDerek may well remember the visit. I approached him afterward and noticing a space in the adulating, pretentious, sycophantic, self-seeking clamor of the group of faithfulls around him I said, 'Well Brother *********. You obviously feel that you are part of the the 30% of those who will make it, and I know that I am, how about this lot' I said spreading my arm around the Hall. In his next talk he made it a special point to counsel his sheep for perhaps having a sense of humor that might be seen as disrespectful.....LOL What a pillock. HS

It is a fairly universal thought among elders that only 30% or so of the congregation will actually survive Armageddon. In recent years, expectations have been lowered to about 20%. This is another reason JWs are so judgmental. They are taught to be suspicious of the majority of their brothers and sisters.

    Willy,

Didn't Jesus give similar statistics on the survival rate of those that would believe in him?

I'm just thankful that i don't fear what this man said one bit! In my mind, he's evil and I'm not, so he can go straight to hell!

I have heard this type of thing before, trying to be motivational. It had the opposite effect on me. That means that nobody would be saved. First a person has to be a baptized JW to even merit consideration then behave perfectly until the big A. Most of the JWs I knew were not thet well behaved!

So how many have been moved to commit suicide because of statements like that?

Once again the Slave speaks out of another side of it's many mouths it has.

From one side of it's mouth it says only 30- 50% of baptised witnesses will survive the battle of armageddon, then from another side of it's big mouth it tells us that at armageddon Jehovah will read the hearts of even those not yet JW's since there may be some of them who would be rightously disposed if they had a good witness delivered to them and that he could even spare their lives. So, it seems that even those not yet witnesses will have a better chance than a dub who is only doing a meager amount of their potential.

Btw, does anyone have a quote of the society saying that at armageddon Jehovah would read the hearts of those not yet witnesses and spare some of them? I cannot recall where the article(s) are.
