I almost had one for similar reasons. My brain couldn't take the lies anymore.

Not sure how long you've been studying or how long/what kind of a friendship you have with your "mentor".
But if you really want to see the true face of JWs ask the question below and take a big step back.
"You know those nutters that make the news saying things like 'the world will end this week'?
"Yes"
"Well when it doesn't happen do they become false prophets like Jesus said?"
"er . . .yes"
"Is it true that for at least 60 years up until 1995, JWs preached that God had revealed through the WT that the generation of 1914 would see paradise restored?
" . . . er . . . (shuffle, shuffle) . . . (attempt to change subject) . . . er . . . what have you been reading/who've you been speaking to . . . ?
"Well is it true?
" . . . well yes . . . but . . . "
"Ok come back and see me in 7 years (2014) and apologise for personally spreading false prophesy. Then I'll tell you what I've been reading/who I've been speaking to.

You are right when you said that the things they present make sense. There are things the Witnesses have gotten right (No trinity, no hell fire). But there are doctrines that appear correct or safe on the surface but become very dangerous if you probe deeper.
I gave up a career because 'the truth' sounded right. I'd be retired now with a pension and free, FREE Medical and Dental Care.
It's not what you see that you should be worried, it's what you can't see. Jehovah's Witnesses. Alot more that meets the eye.

I was a dub for most of my young life. I was a bethelite, regular pioneer, ministerial servant and elder. For what it's worth, run as fast as you can before they destroy what is left of your life.
I have lost my family, my children, my grandchildren, my chance at a proper education, a carreer, and for the most part, my sanity. The same can be said for many, if not most of us here.
I hope that you find what you are looking for, and I sincerely hope that we can help you here.

If I get baptized and later discover information that causes me to want to discontinue my Jehovah's Witness membership, how will I be treated and viewed by the members of the congregation and the leadership of the organization?

I am doing o.k thanks my love I am off again today ....But just couldnt let this fellow go by.... Wondered if he would be told in 1938 in "Face the Facts" pg 46... the Jws were told not to have children as the end was so near...Scripture tells us that is the teaching of Demons.. 1 Tim .4:3
I do hope he doesnt get caught in the net of the cult of JWS .... I am still longing for my daughter & granddaughter that is trapped in it.... to speak to me again,,,, after years & years of shunning me because I dont believe Jesus came invisably in 1914....
