A JW confronted by that question as an individual and asking himself that Q would think "Well I know that I pray in Jesus name, I exercise faith in his sacrifce, I think about him as a model for myself and try to follow in his footsteps".
smellsgood: its all semantics.
We could see the WTS as considering the Q simply as a matter of words and definitions and may console themselves with the idea that they are in fact teaching individual JWs to excerise faith in Jesus as mediator by extension.
smellsgood: I understand how a JW's twisted thinking to console himself regarding the indescrepancies between what the WT teaches and what the gospels say could make him believe this way. Where does it say in the Christian gospels that Jesus is a "mediator by extension" because one is ASSOCIATED with those whom Jesus is a "mediator for real"....
are you just playing devil's advocate or do you really think that JW's are truly CHRISTians. I think the WT takes the Christ out of Christianity. Could you see this in another cult, for example the unification Church? It's the cults who have to take where the power of Christianity lies, that is, in Christ, and take that power for themselves. That's why there members are so radically devoted to the cult. It is their saviour they believe, not Christ as a Christian would believe.

Didn't Jesus say something like if they are not against me then thay are for me.
Pernsonally if one wants to be a christian then there are easier ways of being one. My own reason for leaving JWs is that they are very damaging re their schedule of activites etc.
btw are you a Christian?

I will answer your question, yes Jesus did say that, but for some reasons the JW's seemed to de-emphasize that particular verse. I dont even remember reading that verse growing up, but maybe if I had I would have left much earlier.
I guess the question is--- Is the JW cult for or against Jesus?
By the way, please elaborate more on your reasons for leaving, what do you mean by what you said? -

smellsgood: In Biblical theology there is something known as hermeneutics. You cannot isolate one verse without taking the other verses into mind as well. What you have is an eisogetic statement. Building proofs upon one verse doesn't work in determining the entire "spirit" of the gospels. I would say that the WT is against him, not for him. They don't teach the gospel as written in the NT bottom line.

smellsgood: Were you bothered at all by their history? Their failed prophecies? Their lies? Their Child abuse policy? The affilliation with the U.N.?
Am I a Christian? Please see my posts to Gumby p.1 :)

What has that got to do with whether or not the WTS is christian? Has that ever had anything to do with qualifying or disqualifying a religion from being christian?

Maybe you should have left it at , why the WTBTS is a cult . The bible can be very confusing there are scriptures such as you have quoted in it but then there are many other scriptures that indicate a need for action taken by the individual to preach about the good news . The WTBTS has taken the place of father, son and holy spirit , if you notice they claim to speak for each one individually at different times . I agree that the 2 folds of sheep is misinterpreted and actually means jews and gentiles but from what I can make out of it the 144k are martyrs that have to face the final test of death for their faith and the great crowd survive into the kingdom .True anybody can partake on the memorial eve but you are not in the covenant with christ if you don't , you can only approve of yourself and no other opinion is needed .

So it seems to me that the gospels are unclear in that respect, therefore then can we say categorically that a religion isn't christian if they themselves are saying that they are?
