I am throwing myself out there if you would like to interview me. I was baptised at 14, married at 18 and disassociated myself during a time of extreme post partum depression, which resulted in my getting divorced and losing my child to her JW dad. It has been 8 years and my life is on track now....but, I lost my mom and all my friends I have ever known during that time.....and even though I have a 1 year oldnow...my mom will not talk to me. It is such a painfull thing to experience. I worry about my now 9 year old shunning me in the future. I have thought about going back into the religion for her...but, I know way too much about it now. I did the research to figure out if I believed it...and there is no way I would return at any price.

ruby, i think you should add to your list those that were df'd for being whistle blowers. espically on the sexual misconduct. i'd like to see in this how the w.t.s. keeps this under wraps by buying people off, and df'ing anyone that says anything. just a thought, good luck. i will help in any way i can.

Excellent project!
If you can, it would be great to add stories of those who were forced to shun because they felt they must to obey God. It's traumatic for them, too. I remember of hearing of someone who ended up commiting suicide because they couldn't handle the pressure from family and the religion to shun their child who had been disfellowshipped. I don't know the details but this sort of angle might be interesting to add.

I'm glad you turned around your disfellowshiping and got a good education. If you can use that education to make a film and warn others away from the rocks of the WT coastline...that's payback in a good and ironic way.

I think that Paralipomenon is on to something; I think it would be good to invite/allow those organizations that use these tactics to explain themselves, but make sure they are forced to confront questioning of the stances they take; requiring them to fully explain themselves and answer to the criticisms of the reasoning they use to ustify their actions. If they are not willing to participate, at least use abundant material from their publications that demonstrate how and why they practice what they do. The "both sides" approach I believe has the best chance of having an affect on others.
