    Hi Gopher,
Nice alias! Thanks for providing this link...very useful. I am truly sorry to hear that you've also been shunned by your family. Aren't you grateful for forums like this?! The internet has completely changed things for peoplel like us. As little as 10, 11 years ago former members had almost no way of making contact. I'm so glad this didn't happen to me in the 50's. Please feel free to forward any related insights to me at: [email protected]

    A valid point gymbob,
God, the nature of the WTS is just so incredibly complicated - how to explain things such as this to non-members! Yes, disassociating and the distinction between the two has to be referenced in my film. Thank you for mentioning this.

oh gosh - that must be a VERY difficult position - the "unbelieving mate" one. Well...looks like a healthy response so far! Will keep you posted.

certainly worth mentioning. this, of course could and should be a film all of its' own. A major issue. thank you. Ruby.

    Cabasilas,
This is a very very good point. I truly believe that my family is traumatized by believing it is their duty to shun me. Of course - they have each other and the congregation - I don't. But as you mention it can be excruciating. This point fits with my overall theory which is that it hurts people on both sides - whether they are conscious of it or not. thank you. Ruby.

Hi Will Power. yes. Understandings of "freedom" from both sides will be explored or at least referenced. How does Freedom of Religion gloss over glaring problematic issues within insular communities such as this, allowing problems to fester under a live-and-let-live philosophy? How would / do believers approach this idea of Freedom of Religion? Especially when adn if believers do not believe in the courts and governments which uphold these laws...(and are simply waitiing for the day when they will be destroyed by a vengeful god). Absolutely. thank you. Ruby.
