I believe we go on. I've talked to people who have had NDE's, people who have seen ghosts and there are enough scriptures in the bible to make me believe that, far from 'going to sleep' like we were taught, we definitely have a spirit that goes on. Of course, we do not have 100% proof---it's certainly taken on faith, but that's my feeling on it.

I know what will happen when I die. To the chagrin of my family, they will discover that they are not named as executors in my will. They will be beneficiaries of a small portion of my estate. The bulk of it will go to Rocco and his new home. My family left me no choice. Once I saw how blatantly they disregarded my mother's wishes after she died, I had no choice but to rescind any authority I gave them in my will and PA.

If they didn't give a shit for their mother's wishes, I have to assume they won't give a shit for mine.

So Mary, if we have a sprirt that goes on, the Bible says it goes where? Heaven? If our sins are forgiven then we go there? If they are not forgiven, then we go where? To Hell? If these things are so, then who are these "spirits" that are just hanging around, bothering people? I'm just asking, I'm not being sarcastic. Warlock

Well I sure as hell don't have all the answers, but to me, there's enough circumstantial evidence that something happens when our physical bodies die. And I can't believe you of all people are asking me this!!!!

Well, I have never seen a dead person. I have seen a dancing light on the walls more than once. I have seen a toilet seat left up, flipped down over and over again. I know a ring disappeared and then re-appeared. It's not so much that I am asking only you. I ask myself, and I ask others to explain. Warlock

I'm waiting for nature to take it's course. I don't want to go any sooner than I have to. When I die, min, and you haven't passed on, if there is life after death, I'll try to send you a sign.

    Just like Houdini did

Fearing spiritualists would exploit his legacy by pretending to contact him after his death, Houdini left his wife a secret code — ten words chosen at random from a letter written by Doyle — that he would use to contact her from the afterlife.[15] His wife held yearly séances on Halloween for ten years after his death, but Houdini never appeared. In 1936, after a last unsuccessful séance on the roof of the Knickerbocker Hotel, she put out the candle that she had kept burning beside a photograph of Houdini since his death, later (1943) saying "ten years is long enough to wait for any man."

Like everyone else I have my own theory: From reading the scriptures in the NT...it seems to me we are resurrected to heaven as our sins are forgiven at death if you believe in the Christ. The NT scriptures are not to clear on what happens to us at death....

I think we all go to something like sleep when we die (not completely unconscious). I believe that because of Mary's comment when Jesus was about to resurrect Lazrus -- She said "I know I'll see him at the last day"... And also that Jesus preached the good news to the spirits in prison. If he was preaching to demons or lost souls, he wouldn't have good news to tell them. I think he was preaching good news to spirits who were asleep.

The real new heavens and new earth and glorified bodies happen after the resurrection. That's the real "hope" we are looking for.

I know that it must be something we really can't understand or else it would be more clear in scripture.
