  If these things are so, then who are these "spirits" that are just hanging around, bothering people?

  Good question Warlock. It seems if the dead were alive in the spirit world they would communicate somehow to those living in a more appropriate manner. Not all who claim to have seen spirits say they just scare the crap out of ya. Some say it's a comforting experience and an affirmation that all is well in spiritland.

  Mary....I ain't stayin at Delilah's house unless Warlock stays with me just in case one of those ghost bastards shows up.

  I'm sure I've posted my opinion on this a couple of times but here goes

  I believe that the dead do not come to life until after the milenial reign unless you are a martyr saint in which case you are resurected prior to the milenial reign. so basically in death there is no sensation at all .

  Considering the complete lack of evidence that our soul or spirit goes on after the body dies in order to live an exciting spirit life haunting smelly old houses, clothing at yard sales, musty books or heavy metal cds, or the even more exciting existence of doing nothing while living in heaven telling god how great he is over and over and over...
  
  Any "evidence" to the contrary, that there is a "spirit world" is fragile to say the least, and seems mostly the product of gullible thinking and overactive imaginations.
  
  I have to say that I'm fairly certain that what evidence we do have points to a very simple fact - contrary to some assertions here, it seems consciousness ends, while life goes on. Your cells are either eaten by other species (hopefully) or it decomposes and your cells are taken up into plants which are eaten by other species or decompose once more, over and over, our cells going on and on.
  
  So life does continue, it's just that without consciousness, it won't mean shit to us!! It is consciousness that gives our lives what we think of as meaning. Without consciousness, there is no thinking, no sense of self and no meaning.

  I think "mind" is a quantum event, what the hell is it anyway, what are thoughts? You can't touch them, and do thoughts make a mind or are they just one feature of it? I look at my brain and i see it as just a point of consciousness of certain kind, and maybe when your body dies that little point of quantum consciousness swirls around and gets a new body or it just vanishes into Nirvana. Who knows?
