BUT at the original meal, as instituted by Jesus, NO ONE was anointed. The anointing came at Pentecost, AFTER he had died !

I gotta say AlphaOmega, I'm pretty burned-out on JWs, Christianity, and the Bible right now. Rarely do I even look at such threads anymore. But, you raise a very logical point here. Well done!

I believe it to be those in Christ's body, the 144,000 kings and priests that will rule with him in his heavenly kingdom, which the WTBS says Peter and all those except Judas (sold his inheritance, like Josephs brother , I think) were all part of that elite class of heavenly rulers.

Those who partake are called by God. They are Anointed by Jehovah's spirit. The Apostles were called by God through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus who was anointed by God personally chose the twelve to be his Apostles and heirs to the throne of Heaven. The others were chosen by God and Jesus from Heaven by means of the Holy Spirit. Paul was directly chosen by Jesus to become a heir to the throne of Heaven. He did not participate in the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the congregation at that time.

    John 15:14-17, John 17:6-10

So in conclusion only those called by God and Jesus are allowed to partake of the emblems not the entire congregation.

In my opinion, they reject Jesus' sacrifice everytime they pass that plate without partaking.

I think they have this overwhelming need to be "different" to set themselves apart from the rest of the "world". They must not have read the part where Jesus told everyone present to "do this in memory of me".

Do what? Partake! It was a pretty simple request don't you think?

...everyone at the meal partook. I don't recall Jesus cordially inviting other believers to join them to simply observe.

To my knowledge the only one present at the first memorial were the orignal 12 minus one (Judas). So I can understand why they do not allow everyone to partake. If you were not called you should not partake. It's as simple as that.

If you think along the above line of thought then why go at all. Everyone who went partook (minus Judas who rejected Jesus). I don't remember the Bible speaking of those who went and did not partake. If you are not called then don't go.

If you think you are cross eyed on this: wait till you try to sort out the difference between the "faithful slave" and the "domestics" in the first century! :-)

Oh....the "Memorial" is defined as "the bastardized expression of the Lord's Meal as celebrated by the JWs anusly anually." Really, why try to sort out Rutherford's booze induced, late night, speculations.....that buzzing in his ear....what is the angel saying???

I suppose they were "annointed apparent" since Jesus hadn't got to heaven to do the deed yet but it was sort of like the engagement period. (just trying to think like a JW)

I think it was like when he washed their feet and was only setting a pattern. The apostles did have holy spirit tho , I think , as jesus would say things lilke, "If only you had the faith faith of a mustard seed" , you could do greater things than what he was doing.. Good observation . His blood was for a new covenenant and would redeem many in his kingdom as heirs.
