That's a good point. They weren't annointed yet. I'm going to try that question out on a few jws that I know.

I always hated the rejection meal. I was raised in a church and was stunned at my first exposure to this craziness, even though I had been warned by my Bible study conductor in advance. It was like an anti-memorial or a non-meeting. It never did feel right.

Rutherford has been the demise of the Witness's and the death of many people, if everyone would have stayed with the Bible Students and not followed that creep, just count the ways that freedom would have helped out the worship of Jehovah. Bible Students don't have the mind control problem as does the Witness's.

As far as Jesus was concerned he told his followers and his enemies that the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand! John also told his followers that the Kingdom of the Heavens is near. To Jesus and John they saw everything in fulfillment before it was completed. Jesus knew that he would not fail in his mission. He also knew his followers and who he will choose to rule with him in Heaven. The Apostles he chose are the foundation stones of New Jerusalem and Jesus is the cornerstone. Jesus had charged his Apostles with authority to cast out demons and heal people. If they were not anointed by God to work his purpose they wouldn't have been able to do those things. There doesn't have to be a rushing stiff breeze every time Jehovah anoints one of his followers for a special mission. So trying to use that as an arguement is worthless. In Ancient Israel the High Priest and the under priest were able to partake of some of the special sacrifices that were presented to Jehovah in worship. Now to my understanding the ordinary citizens of Israel could not partake of the special sacrifice's made by smoke to Jehovah. It would be a violation of the Law. Another example, Korah wanted to seize the priesthood for himself without Jehovah's approval. He died and all who followed him died. So why partake of the emblems if you are not of this fold. Why not be happy for those who partake of the emblems, Jehovah chose them and we should be happy and content with his decision. We should show appreciation for just being alive to witness it happen. I don't care what religious belief you have you should always be happy for those who chosen to do Godly things for mankind.

I have a problem with any person today considered annointed by the JWs. Jesus personally annointed his apostles. There was physical evidence at pentecost that the people in attendance were annointed. Today, Catholic priests will annoint you each Sunday by letting each person in attendance partake of that unleavened bread (communion?) but it is your choice to participate.

Today, JW elders will flatly tell you that you are not annointed, that you are not the right age, haven't been tested, that the 80 yr old elder beside you would be chosen over you, you will be shunned or disfellowshipped.

So the whole modern idea among JWs of the annointing is wrong, a farce. I knew one older woman that always claimed to be annointed. The elders badgered and harassed her to a point where her nerves broke down, she had to be hospitalized. The only way the elders and their wives would let her attend meetings again was if she admitted that she was NOT annointed, and she had to personally tell individuals in the kingdom hall that she was "no longer annointed" and she never took the emblems again at the memorial.

The JWs have so much to apologize for and to fix that I think it is a hopeless religion that has gone money mad with power and real estate holdings. The whole atmosphere in a KH is evil, intense, hateful, and you had better conform and become a robot if you want anyone to talk to you or acknowledge your existence.

Unbaptized....I'm sorry, but you are typical.

    1) All opinion based support.

    2) You try and make some things mean other things without any hard facts. (as is typical of the WTS)

    3) And you're floating around this Forum dabbling in apostacism(is that a word?).....is this what "Jehovah" God wants you to be doing? Do not touch unclean things.

    4) Are you walking down the broad path????

Well Jesus was young and he was teaching in the temple. They also did not believe he was the anointed of Jehovah. Believe me my friend if they did a follower of Jehovah like that they will reap the consequences of their actions. No one reserves the right to do that to anyone. The bottom line is all those who truly belong to God and Jesus will be persecuted by their own people. That story does not surprise me at all.

Also to the other commentor, I go where I wanna go!!! As you can see I'm not a fool! I look at things from both sides of the coin before I make any decision. Sorry I wasn't like you!!

Also I refuse to label anyone anything whether within the organization or outside the organization with another religion. It's God's responsibility to judge men, not my mine!

I only see one side in your post. The JW side. I guess that means you have made your decision.

So why are you here? Are you hoping to help someone who has left or are you questioning your decision to stay?

Jesus said partake so they did. Jesus said keep doing it. Jesus never said sit back and watch other people do it. Instead of questioning what Jesus meant when he said to continue doing it you might want to start doing it. I don't understand why anyone would want to miss out on God's "undeserved" kindness because some old men told them they didn't "deserve" it.

Regardless of whether anyone believes that the Passover meal was also the first "Memorial Meal", the fact remains that at the time of partaking of the bread and wine - the disciples were a bunch of arguing misfits. Chosen by God, but still unanointed.

By misfits, I mean that they were not yet the spiritual elite that we believe they became - they were a cross section of the community - the "everyday Joes". They argued who was the greatest, they said that they would never abandon Jesus (yet they did) etc etc.

What was missing ? The anointing !

So how could the JW concept of "anointed only to partake" be correct?

I like the phrase "anointed apparant" and I thank you all for putting your JW heads back on (as painful as it seemed).

For those who are still JWs here, I ask that you truly examine the history of the WTBTS, and see where it took a different course.

It was Rutherford, who seemingly used the organisation for his own gain - and now many sincere JWs are left to pick up the pieces of his distorted doctrines - they are gradually clearing out some of the "dead wood":

    1914 has changed

    1935 has gone

    Various dates have been "buried".

Ask why. As far as I am aware, the two classes of JWs were Rutherford's idea. I wonder how long before it too is changed.

Well, thanks to the 1935 New Light, the anointed are no longer anything special - so maybe it is happening.

As far as being happy for those who are "anointed". I am - TRULY. My problem is that not just the 144,000 (or how ever many there have been over the years) are anointed - anyone who sincerely asks will receive.

Ask and you shall receive - knock and the door will be opened - "In those days I will pour out my Spirit on everyone" etc etc

I am now off for a glass of wine and some bread of my own - my own personal communion.

So Doodlebear why aren't you doing so then? I'm not on trial here, I'm not God. This is an informative site and people voice their opinions on this site. Whether they are good or bad! But I see that if someone does not agree with your every word, this makes them scapegoats for your personal attacks. I think you need to get over it.

Unbabtized, do you really believe that out of all the people in the world Jehaovah could only find a handful of Americans to do his work worldwide? The governing body have been mainly old American men since the beginning of the WBTS. Why is it that all the books and mags published are written by the writing commitee and not by the annointed ones around the world?
