BTW, this thread is here because of the notion (on the other thread) that some might feel that if one is a JW they are inherently "bad". Yesterday's thread was regarding my daughter's visit from an older JW couple who made it known they didn't want other Witnesses to know that they visited her for fear that the JWs would hold it against them.
OK, Your Opinion: Are Witnesses Who Practice Their Religion "Bad"?

If they see evil and injustice in the Org. and close their eyes, then they aren't "good".

Many if not most JWs see some injustices and badness within the imperfect Organization. Does their remaining as JWs mean they're bad? I don't think so.

Most are just rationalizing. It's a defense mechanism.

I have a few JW friends who pratice it faithfully, and they are good people however, I think good people are good regardless of religion. I tried to practice it faithfully but it only lead to disappointment.

Without doubt, "bastardized".

Min,
Here is how I view myself, in regard to your question:
As a JW I was a cult adherent, a brain dead, deluded, insane son of Satan.
I was callus, un-merciful, concieted, self rightious.
I promoted darkness, historical re-writes, outright lies.
I was anti-Christ.'
I was as far from the fundamentals and truths of Christianity as one could get.
Spiritually, I was slime, vomit, fecal matter in a poly bag of human form and every time I opened my mouth this vomitous, smelly, gaggy puke would dribble off my lips down my chin and puddle on the ground.
That is what I was. I can not deny this former reality.
Was I "bad?"
You tell me, my friend.

PS to the above:
EVERY JW is just as I was in thier role as reps of the WT.
This fact does not remove my concern, love, empathy for them as individuals trapped in a cult.
As they are, I was. As I am, with the exception of the trials that confront me, I wish they were.

The average braindead JW is not bad.
They are misled and brainwashed robots, trained to resist independent thinking.

I think "good people" do "bad things" sometimes. Republicans that vehemently support Bush may be viewed as "bad" persons by others. But are they truly "bad"? If someone thinks Bush is a murderer because of Iraq is he truly "evil"? I have a very hard time believing that if bad actions result from an individual that it is proof that they are in fact "bad".
